Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Sous Chef to support kitchen operations and help lead the culinary team at a busy casual, full-service restaurant in Pepin, WI.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on kitchen leader who can maintain food quality, keep service organized, and support the Chef with daily execution. The ideal candidate leads by example, works well under pressure, and takes pride in developing a strong, accountable kitchen team.

What You’ll Do

Assist with leading daily kitchen operations and supervising culinary staff
Support food preparation, line execution, plating, and quality control
Ensure dishes consistently meet standards for taste, portioning, presentation, and execution
Train, coach, and hold kitchen team members accountable
Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked workstations
Monitor ticket times and step in wherever needed during service
Assist with ordering, inventory, receiving, and product rotation
Help control food waste, labor, and kitchen costs
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and storage standards
Support menu execution, specials, prep planning, and kitchen scheduling
Serve as the kitchen leader when the Chef is unavailable

What We’re Looking For

Previous Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Lead Line Cook, or comparable culinary leadership experience
Strong culinary skills and knowledge of professional kitchen operations
Proven ability to lead by example in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
Availability to work Wednesday through Sunday, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Food safety certification preferred

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
