Advanced Diagnostic Technician
Chris’s German Auto
Redmond, WA

European Vehicles * Porsche-Focused Shop * Monday-Friday * No Weekends

Guaranteed hourly pay starting at $55/hour+, with additional flat-rate earning potential

Some shops work on cars. This shop has spent decades earning the trust of Porsche owners, collectors, drivers, and enthusiasts who care deeply about how their vehicles are serviced.

Chris’s German Auto is one of those rare places where the work still feels personal. The cars are interesting. The standards are high. The details matter. Customers come here because they want the job done correctly, thoughtfully, and by people who understand that these vehicles are more than transportation.

Founded by legendary Porsche expert Chris Powell and now led by professional rally driver and Porsche enthusiast Daria Bakai, Chris’s German Auto blends old-school craftsmanship, motorsport roots, and modern shop systems inside a 10,000 sq. ft. climate-controlled facility in Redmond, WA.

This is not a basic repair position, and it is not a production-only environment. This role is for a technician who enjoys the thinking side of the work. Someone who can slow down, test properly, follow the evidence, and solve complex concerns instead of guessing or throwing parts at a vehicle.

Porsche experience is a plus, but it is not required. We can teach Porsche. What matters most is strong diagnostic ability, solid European vehicle experience, and the discipline to repair vehicles correctly the first time.

Pay & Benefits

$135,000-$165,000 per year earning potential
Guaranteed hourly pay starting at $55/hour+, depending on experience and diagnostic ability
Additional performance based earning potential

What You’ll Work On

Advanced drivability and electrical concerns
European vehicle diagnostics and repair
Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW, and other German vehicles
Intermittent concerns and network communication issues
CAN, LIN, module, sensor, and actuator testing
Engine diagnostics and root-cause failure analysis
Mechanical repair, testing, maintenance, and complex troubleshooting
Occasional older Porsche and vintage European vehicle work
Performance and specialty vehicle projects
High-end vehicles owned by enthusiasts who care about the details
Supporting other technicians when needed

What We’re Looking For

Strong diagnostic ability across multiple vehicle systems

Porsche experience is a plus, but not required

Strong electrical and drivability skills

Comfortable using wiring diagrams, scan data, and proper testing procedures

Able to use advanced tools such as oscilloscopes, pressure transducers, and scan tools

Able to interpret live data and build a diagnostic strategy independently

Comfortable with intermittent concerns and complex vehicle problems

Strong mechanical repair ability

Someone who knows what they know, and knows what they do not know and wants to continue to learn and grow

Professional, self-disciplined, detail-oriented, and team-focused

Able to work independently without constant oversight

Takes pride in quality workmanship

Significant hands-on repair and diagnostic experience preferred, but the right skillset matters more than a specific number of years
