Full Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW: Performs routine and moderate to highly complex testing and analyses according to established procedures.

AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Laboratory

HOURS OF WORK: As assigned, Sunday through Saturday

RESPONSIBLE TO: Laboratory Manager

PREREQUISITES:

1. Certification by ASCP or NCA as a Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist; or a Bachelor's Degree with equivalent Certification.

2. ASCP or NCA Registry eligible Technologists or Clinical Laboratory Scientists will be considered, but must receive their certification within 90 days of hire.

3. Must provide proof of college transcripts.

QUALIFICATIONS;

1. One year of recent hospital or Clinical Reference lab experience as a generalist performing moderate to high complexity tests is preferred.

2. Ability to prioritize workload and assist co-workers as needed to meet established turn around times.

3. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills in a diverse population.

4. Demonstrates good decision making and problem solving skills.

5. Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form in the English language.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Generic Job Functions: See Generic Job Description for Clinical Partner

B. Unique Job Functions:

1. Performs all STAT and routine clinical testing according to established standards and completes analysis within established time frames 90% of the time.

2. Performs, records and reviews Quality Control Analysis according to established standards and takes appropriate corrective action when there is a variance in QC.

3. Performs proficiency testing such as CAP surveys.

4. Maintains and troubleshoots instruments and equipment and document such according to established protocols.

5. Reviews and evaluates lab reports for clarity, accuracy, timeliness.

6. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and take necessary corrective action according to established protocols.

7. Participates in the review and revision of policies and procedures.

8. Receives all reagents and supplies according to standards.

9. Participates in specimen procurement, specimen handling and specimen processing.

10. Participates in the orientation of students and new employees.

11. Perform as lead tech when requested or required.

C. Human Resources

Pay: $43.42 - $72.86 per hour

Education:

Associate (Preferred)

Experience:
