Full Job Description

General Purpose

ILWU Credit Union is searching for an experienced full-time Real Estate Loan Processor who will be responsible for working an entire real estate loan cycle from origination through funding. The Processor coordinates all applicable residential loan documentation to complete the loan transaction in accordance with ILWU Credit Union policies and procedures, government regulations and, if applicable, secondary market investor guidelines. This position may be required to back up other positions at the Credit Union as needed. This role is an on-site position located in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, CA.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

Assist members with real estate loan inquiries and applications
Discuss real estate products with members looking to purchase, refinance, or obtain a second mortgage (HELOC or fixed second)
Interview applicants and originate loans within current regulatory requirements
Work closely and coordinate with borrowers, loan officers/underwriters, realtors, service vendors (title companies, appraisers, private mortgage insurance companies, etc.), and insurance companies to ensure specific tasks and underwriting requirements are satisfied in a smooth and timely manner
Maintain constant communication with all applicable parties and ensure all processing and closing deadlines are met
Validate member documentation for accuracy and compliance
Obtain and review credit reports, title reports, appraisals, mortgage payoffs, verifications of employment/deposit/mortgage, etc., as needed
Monitor the mortgage process to ensure adherence to all company and regulatory processes and guidelines
Manage multiple loan pipelines and perform all duties necessary to complete the efficient processing of real estate loan applications while maintaining high levels of member service
Troubleshoot title issues, including vesting concerns, liens/encumbrances, and judgements
Submit loans for underwriting, clear conditions, and prepare all loan documents for closing
Close and disburse loans
Process export of Real Estate loans from the loan origination system
Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
Four years of real estate loan origination, processing, and closing experience in a financial institution
Strong understanding of loan policies, guidelines, federal and state laws and regulations.
Working knowledge of credit fundamentals
Knowledge of multiple types of loans such as conventional, fixed, adjustable, non-conforming, FNMA and FHLMC, and Home Equity Lines of Credit
Must maintain an active registration status with the National Mortgage Licensing System Registry
Must be bondable and maintain bondability throughout employment
Must have extensive knowledge and experience with Encompass LOS.
Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work independently while maintaining high productivity and accuracy
Self-motivated and self-directed
Excellent time management, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to maintain accuracy and promptly complete duties with a high degree of attention to detail while meeting demanding deadlines
Ability to take initiative and make decisions within established guidelines
Ability to focus, comprehend, understand, and follow written and oral instructions
High level of confidentiality required and ability to protect and adhere to Credit Union privacy guidelines

Work Environment
Most work is performed in an air-conditioned and heated office environment with exposure to basic office equipment and typical moderate office noise.
