Who is NurseInTheMaking?

NITM develops guides, flashcards, and digital resources that break down complex nursing topics into clear, visual, need-to-know content. We’ve helped 400,000+ nursing students succeed, and our social media community is one of the most engaged in nursing education.

What’s the job?

We're hiring NCLEX question writers to help build our question bank. You'll write original NCLEX-style practice questions with detailed rationales, covering all content areas on the NCSBN test plan.

You'll work under our Lead Nursing Content Developer, who will provide training on our question-writing standards, review your work, and give feedback. If you haven't written NCLEX-style questions before, that's okay. What matters is strong clinical knowledge and the ability to write clearly. Our lead will train you on the rest.

This isn't a social media or general content role. This is focused, detail-oriented test prep writing.

What will you do?

Write NCLEX-style practice questions with detailed rationales explaining why each answer choice is correct or incorrect.
You'll be assigned specific topics like med-surg, pharm, peds, OB, psych, etc.
Write NGN-format items including case studies, drag-and-drop, highlight, matrix, and other Next Generation NCLEX question types.
Revise and refine questions based on feedback from the lead and the review team.
Meet weekly output targets. We'll set a manageable pace based on your availability and ramp-up time.
Ensure originality. All questions must be 100% original.

Must-Haves

BSN required.
Active, unencumbered RN license.
Strong clinical knowledge across core nursing content areas. You know the material well enough to write questions about it.
Clear, concise writing skills. You can explain complex concepts in simple terms without dumbing them down.
Attention to detail. Clinical accuracy matters. Typos and sloppy rationales won't cut it.
Reliability. You can commit to 20–40 hours per week and meet deadlines consistently.

Nice-to-Haves

Prior experience writing NCLEX-style questions (for a test prep company, nursing program, or published resource).
At least 1 year of teaching or clinical instruction experience. You understand where students struggle.
Familiarity with NGN question types and the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model.
Advanced degree (MSN, DNP, EdD). Not required, but a plus.

The Details

Type: Contract / 1099
Location: Fully remote (US-based)
Hours: 15-20 hours per week (some flexibility)
Pay: $35-38/hour
Start date: Rolling. We're hiring on a rolling basis as we find the right people.
