Full Job Description

Job Overview
Red Sage Communications is a full-service marketing agency. We use accessibility software to manage compliance across our client portfolio, and this position will work directly within our tools to support ongoing remediation across websites, PDFs, and videos. We are building a contractor relationship with an experienced accessibility specialist who can operate efficiently in a hybrid workflow — using AI-powered automation as a first pass and applying manual review and correction to achieve full compliance.

This is a project-based engagement with potential for ongoing work.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive accessibility assessments of WordPress sites using AudioEye, Allyant, or other software to identify compliance gaps.
Collaborate with development teams to implement fixes for accessibility issues in accordance with WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), and other relevant standards, prioritizing issues based on severity and impact.
Work with AudioEye, accessiBe, or similar overlay tools where deployed; document gaps and provide supplemental manual fixes
Verify fixes through rigorous user acceptance testing (UAT) and system testing phases, ensuring accessibility standards are met before release.
Document test cases, test scripts, and remediation activities clearly for audit purposes and future reference.
Proactively communicate project status and flag blockers to the project manager.
Deliver work meeting 100% conformance standards.

Skills

Demonstrated hands-on experience with AudioEye, Allyant, or other accessibility solutions and familiar with their limitations.
Strong working knowledge of PDF/UA (ISO 14289), Section 508, and ADA Title II requirements
Proficiency with screen reader testing.
Experience remediating complex document types: multi-column layouts, data tables, interactive forms, scanned PDFs requiring OCR
Experience with mobile testing on Android and iOS platforms; familiarity with mobile applications’ accessibility features is essential.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills to articulate technical findings clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
IAAP CPACC or WAS certification preferred.

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Describe your hands-on experience using software for PDF remediation. Include what software you use, what types of documents you’ve remediated (simple, complex, forms, scanned), how you handle tagging reading order and alt text, and how you validate the final document is usable by a screen reader — not just passing automated checkers.
Walk through your process for auditing and remediating a WordPress website for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance. Describe the tools you use, how you prioritize issues, how you address failures that automated tools cannot detect, and how you verify the site passes both automated and manual screen reader testing.
Describe the most complex PDF remediation challenge you’ve encountered — for example, a multi-column document, nested data table, interactive form, or scanned document requiring OCR. What made it difficult, how did you approach it and how did you confirm the result was actually usable by a screen reader user?
Describe your process for testing web accessibility on mobile devices. Which devices, operating systems, and mobile screen readers do you use, and which WCAG 2.1 AA criteria are most commonly violated on mobile that automated desktop testing misses?
We use a hybrid workflow — AI-powered tools such as Allyant's CommonLook and Accessibility on Demand handle initial automated tagging, and a human specialist completes review, correction, and validation. Describe your experience working in this type of hybrid model. What does your correction and review process look like after automated tagging, what do AI tools most commonly get wrong that requires human intervention, and approximately how long does your review and correction pass typically take per page compared to fully manual remediation?
