Project Architect

Project Architect

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to lead architectural projects from schematic design through construction administration. The Project Architect will own technical design quality, BIM coordination (Revit-centric), production of construction documents, and client/consultant coordination while ensuring schedule, budget, and code compliance. This role combines strong technical leadership with project management and client-facing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead project teams through all phases of design and documentation, from schematic design and design development to construction documents and construction administration.
Serve as the primary contact for clients and consultants, managing expectations, delivering presentations, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Develop and maintain project schedules, scope, and budgets in collaboration with project managers and principals.
Produce and review high-quality construction documents and details, ensuring code compliance, constructability, and coordination with engineering disciplines.
Manage and coordinate BIM workflows using Revit, including model development, clash coordination, and documentation standards.|
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff, reviewing drawings and models, and improving team workflows and standards.
Oversee quality control and project deliverables, implementing QA/QC checks and addressing technical issues proactively.
Coordinate with contractors during bidding and construction phases, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits and construction observation.
Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimates for new work opportunities.
Promote a collaborative office culture by participating in internal design reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) required.
Active architectural license (state registration) or equivalent professional experience required; NCARB certification is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in project architect or senior technical architect roles, with demonstrated project leadership.
Proven proficiency in Revit (BIM) for modeling, documentation, and coordination required.
Strong technical documentation and detailing skills with knowledge of building codes, ADA, life-safety, and constructability.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with experience leading meetings and presentations.
Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and coordinating multi-disciplinary consultants.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam is desirable.
Project experience in Civic, Commercial, Cultural, and Mixed-Use building types is a strong plus.
Ability to perform site visits and construction observation; familiarity with construction methods and materials.
