Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Corporate Accounting Professional to join our finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing and ensuring the accuracy of financial records, supporting regulatory compliance, and contributing to the overall financial health of our organization. Your expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory standards will drive efficient financial operations and provide valuable insights for decision-making. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a mission-driven organization committed to transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial management.

Duties

Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
Conduct general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all financial data aligns with audit standards.
Support internal controls compliance by assisting with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and documentation.
Utilize financial software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, and other accounting tools to streamline processes.
Conduct financial analysis including cash flow analysis, budgeting support, forecasting, and variance reporting.
Assist with regulatory reporting requirements related to securities law, governmental accounting standards, or nonprofit regulations as applicable.
Support external audits by preparing necessary documentation and providing audit support.
Mentor junior team members on technical accounting concepts, software usage like Excel (including VLOOKUP functions), and best practices in financial management.

Experience

Proven experience in corporate accounting or financial accounting roles within diverse industries such as nonprofit organizations or government agencies.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and financial concepts related to general ledger reconciliation and journal entries.
Demonstrated expertise with financial software including PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel for data analysis is essential.
Familiarity with SOX compliance procedures and internal control frameworks is highly desirable.
Experience with regulatory compliance accounting such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law reporting, or governmental accounting standards is a plus.
Ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately and communicate findings clearly through written reports or presentations.
Prior mentoring or training experience in technical accounting or software applications will be considered an asset.
