Licensed Customs Broker - Remote (Part Time)

Focus: Classification, Admissibility, KYC, and Sanctions Screening

Overview

We are seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to support our import compliance operations remotely. The role will focus primarily on KYC review, Sanctions screening, HTS classification and admissibility of goods.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of CBP requirements, tariff classification, partner government agency requirements, importer due diligence, and trade compliance red flags.

Key Responsibilities

Review imported goods to determine admissibility into the United States, including applicable restrictions, permits, licenses, PGA requirements, and other regulatory concerns.

Classify merchandise under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States and support classification decisions with proper documentation.

Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, product descriptions, technical documents, and other shipment records for accuracy and completeness.

Identify requirements involving agencies such as FDA, USDA, EPA, CPSC, FCC, and other relevant government agencies.

Conduct or support KYC reviews for importers, consignees, suppliers, manufacturers, and other parties involved in import transactions.

Perform sanctions, denied party, restricted party, and watchlist screening, including OFAC-related checks where applicable.

Identify and escalate compliance red flags involving importers, suppliers, products, routing, documentation, valuation, origin, or sanctions exposure.

Review customs entries for accuracy, including classification, country of origin, valuation, duties, trade program eligibility, PGA flags, and required declarations.

Maintain records supporting classification, admissibility, KYC, sanctions screening, and customs compliance decisions.

Monitor relevant changes in customs regulations, tariff provisions, agency requirements, sanctions programs, and trade policy.

Qualifications

Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.

Strong knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import procedures, and CBP compliance requirements.

Experience with HTS classification, product admissibility review, customs documentation, KYC, and sanctions screening.

Familiarity with PGA requirements, including FDA, USDA, EPA, CPSC, FCC, or similar agencies.

Ability to research customs rulings, tariff provisions, agency guidance, and trade compliance requirements.

Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong written communication skills.

Ability to work independently in a part-time role and manage deadlines effectively.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ACE, customs brokerage systems, or sanctions screening tools is preferred.

Preferred Experience

Customs brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics, import compliance, or trade compliance experience.

Experience reviewing commercial invoices, product descriptions, HTS classifications, PGA requirements, importer documents, and restricted party screening results.
