Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Fertilizer Market & Potash Industry Consultant to provide independent market analysis and commercial due diligence support for a strategic potash mining project. The consultant will serve as a subject matter expert on the global fertilizer industry, with a particular focus on potassium fertilizers, market dynamics, supply chains, pricing, production economics, and South American fertilizer markets.

The consultant will assess global fertilizer supply and demand trends, evaluate competitive market positioning, and analyze the commercial viability of a proposed potash project targeting key agricultural markets in South America, particularly Brazil and Argentina.

This is a short-term remote consulting engagement requiring the preparation of comprehensive market intelligence reports and presentations for investment and project development purposes.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth analysis of the global fertilizer industry, with emphasis on potash (potassium) fertilizers.
Assess global fertilizer supply chain dynamics, including major producers, exporters, distributors, and end markets.
Evaluate production capacity, production costs, and competitive positioning of key fertilizer-producing countries.
Analyze global fertilizer pricing trends, market drivers, and long-term demand forecasts.
Assess fertilizer consumption patterns and import requirements across South America.
Perform detailed market analysis of Brazil, Argentina, and other key regional agricultural markets.
Evaluate the commercial viability and market competitiveness of a proposed potash project.
Identify market risks, opportunities, barriers to entry, and competitive advantages.
Review industry reports, trade data, market intelligence, and economic forecasts.
Prepare clear, concise, and data-driven reports for investors, lenders, and project stakeholders.
Present findings and recommendations to internal teams and clients as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Economics, Mining, Geology, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the fertilizer industry, commodity markets, agricultural inputs, or market consulting.
Demonstrated expertise in potash fertilizers, fertilizer production, distribution, and international trade.
Strong understanding of global fertilizer supply chains and market economics.
Experience conducting market research, commercial due diligence, and competitive analysis.
Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, including interpretation of trade and commodity market data.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and market research tools.
Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with fertilizer producers, mining companies, commodity traders, consulting firms, development finance institutions, or investment firms.
Knowledge of South American agricultural markets, particularly Brazil and Argentina.
Experience evaluating greenfield mining or fertilizer production projects.
Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is an advantage.

Deliverables

The consultant will be expected to prepare:

A market assessment report focused on the global and regional potash fertilizer market.
A broader fertilizer industry report covering potassium, nitrogen, and phosphate fertilizers.
Executive-level presentations summarizing findings, risks, opportunities, and commercial recommendations.

Pay: $150.00 - $250.06 per hour
