Full Job Description

Virginia Transformer is seeking experienced Data Center Sales Engineers / Executives across the United States to drive continued growth within the rapidly expanding data center market.

This role will develop and manage strategic data center customers, identify new opportunities, and lead technical and commercial sales pursuits from initial customer engagement through booking and project execution.

The ideal candidate combines technical credibility with strong commercial instincts. You understand how to build relationships with engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and executive stakeholders and can translate complex electrical requirements into solutions that create value for the customer.

Experience selling transformers, electrical power equipment, power distribution solutions, or other mission-critical infrastructure into data centers is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

Develop & Grow Data Center Accounts

Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within assigned and prospective data center customers.
Understand customer expansion plans, capital projects, transformer procurement needs, technical specifications, and commercial expectations.
Develop VTC's position from qualified supplier to preferred supplier and strategic partner.
Identify and pursue new projects, programs, and long-term customer opportunities.
Expand relationships across procurement, engineering/design, construction, project management, and operations teams.
Support customers throughout the complete lifecycle of awarded projects.

Develop Technical & Commercial Solutions

Serve as a technical and commercial advisor regarding transformer products, applications, specifications, and commercial arrangements.
Translate customer requirements into competitive technical and commercial solutions.
Partner with VTC engineering and inside sales teams to develop accurate quotations and proposals.
Influence customer specifications and purchasing decisions by demonstrating VTC's technical capabilities, manufacturing expertise, and value proposition.

Own the Sales Process

Build and maintain a strong pipeline of data center opportunities.
Track inquiries, quotations, proposals, bookings, and customer commitments.
Proactively follow up on outstanding proposals to improve win rates.
Lead commercial negotiations on major opportunities.
Own opportunities from initial pursuit through capture, booking, and transition into manufacturing operations.
Remain engaged throughout project execution to maintain customer satisfaction and develop future business.

Collaborate Across VTC

Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, inside sales, and leadership.
Ensure customer technical and commercial requirements are clearly communicated internally.
Help resolve issues that could impact customer commitments or future opportunities.
Provide customer and market feedback that supports continuous improvement and product development.

Understand the Market

Monitor the U.S. data center market for new developments, expansions, major projects, and emerging opportunities.
Track competitors, customer buying behavior, technology changes, and market trends.
Identify key developers, operators, engineering firms, contractors, and other influencers within the data center ecosystem.
Regularly communicate market intelligence and recommended actions to VTC leadership.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical and transformer industry experience.
Electrical Engineering background is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical power and power distribution systems.
Transformer application, engineering, or sales experience is a significant advantage.
Proven B2B technical sales success within data centers, transformers, electrical equipment, power distribution, mission-critical infrastructure, or related industries.
Experience developing and managing large strategic accounts.
Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and executive stakeholders.
Strong commercial negotiation and relationship-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously in a fast-moving growth environment.
Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations, project sites, industry events, and VTC facilities as required.
