Full Job Description

Job Overview
Freedom CAD is a premier PCB design service bureau with a talented team of 30+ dedicated designers providing complex layouts for our enviable list of high-tech customers. Tired of the commute? This is a work-from-home, full-time position with an opportunity for additional compensation for overtime work at time and a half.

This position has a strong focus on HDI technology and is responsible for creating state of the art PCB layouts from electrical schematics, net lists, mechanical input, and associated detail documents that adhere to the latest fabrication and assembly standards using Mentor Xpedition design software.

Responsibilities

Design project lead – reports to Director of Operations, or COO.
Leads highly complex layouts while ensuring quality, efficiency and manufacturability.
Provides expertise to engineering team regarding combined HDI technology and design practices.
Handle multiple tasks and provide work leadership to other designers through the distribution, coordination, and managing of the assigned work load.
Ability to create, from engineering inputs, board mechanical profiles, board fabrication stack-ups, detailed board fabrication drawings and packages, assembly drawings, assembly notes, etc., preferable for the Mentor Expedition design tool set.
Load and debug Net lists. (Xpedition)
Ability to place components, perform density analysis, input constraints, route traces.
Generate layout reports daily/weekly for customers and Operations.
Primarily work from home but must be willing to work occasionally on-site at a customer location.
Must be willing to work extended and flexible hours to meet critical schedules when necessary.
Basic Schematics knowledge.

Skills

Expert knowledge of Xpedition Enterprise tool suite is essential and secondary knowledge of Altium or Allegro or PADS is a plus.
Extensive use of HDI technology.
Experience with high-speed Digital, RF, Analog and Flex and Rigid Flex designs.
Basic computer literacy with Windows-based applications such as Microsoft EXCEL, Microsoft Word, Notepad.
Experience with Xpedition Sketch Router preferred.
Ability to proactively identify problems, and provide solutions or recommendations in a dynamic work environment.
Knowledge of signal integrity design constraints encompassing differential pairs, impedance control, high speed, EMI, and ESD.
Strong experience with Constraint Manager, (formerly CES)
Passionate about PCB design with a strong desire to expand your knowledge
Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills
Excellent team player that can lead projects and mentor others.
Ability to accurately quote layout work, forecast schedules, and drive to meet committed schedules.
Ability to adapt to changing customer requirements.
Work with customer and FCS engineering to ensure compliance with Manufacturing Design Standards.
Self-motivated, Detail oriented, Organized, Positive team player.
Ability to work from home with minimal supervision.

Experience

Ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years High Speed layout experience.
Ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of Xpedition current experience.
Ideal candidate must have knowledge of DFA/DFM standards as they relate to Flex and HDI technology.
Other design tool knowledge is considered a plus.
Familiar with Industry Design Standards – ANSI, IPC, ITAR.
