We are a growing outsourced accounting and CFO firm providing bookkeeping, accounting, tax, and advisory services to small business clients. We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with our clients by delivering accurate financial information, practical advice, and responsive service.

We're looking for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take on a leadership role while helping build the future of our firm.

Position Summary

The Accounting & Tax Manager will oversee client accounting engagements, prepare and review tax returns, manage client relationships, and lead the development of our accounting team. This individual will ensure high-quality financial reporting, oversee monthly accounting operations, and play a key role in training and mentoring future staff.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA or experienced Senior Accountant who wants to grow into a leadership position with significant autonomy and direct impact on the firm's success.

ResponsibilitiesAccounting Services

Manage monthly accounting for a portfolio of business clients.
Review bookkeeping and account reconciliations.
Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
Perform month-end and year-end close procedures.
Prepare adjusting journal entries.
Resolve complex accounting issues.
Ensure financial statements comply with GAAP.

Tax Services

Prepare and review business and individual tax returns.
Perform year-end tax planning for clients.
Identify tax-saving opportunities.
Respond to client tax questions.
Coordinate with clients to obtain tax documentation.
Stay current on federal and state tax law changes.

Client Advisory

Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients.
Lead client meetings.
Explain financial results and tax implications.
Assist clients with accounting system improvements.
Identify opportunities for additional advisory services.

Leadership & Team Development

Review work prepared by staff accountants.
Train and mentor junior team members.
Develop standard operating procedures.
Improve accounting workflows and efficiencies.
Participate in hiring and onboarding future staff.
Help build a scalable accounting department.

QualificationsRequired

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience preparing business and individual tax returns.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency.
Experience managing multiple clients simultaneously.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred

CPA designation (strongly preferred).
Public accounting experience.
Experience in Client Accounting Services (CAS).
Experience reviewing staff work.
Tax planning experience.
Experience with tax software such as UltraTax, Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect, or CCH Axcess.
Experience with cloud accounting technology including Bill, Gusto, and Ramp.
