WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Consultant or Senior Consultant in our Timber Resources practice, you'll work alongside a Project Manager and client teams to design and implement best-in-class timber procurement practices, systems, and processes. Our work spans logging contractor management, optimization of log diet to a mill, internal log transfer pricing, fee timberlands management, and more.
You'll you will be expected to bring thoughts and ideas that challenge thinking and procedure, and drive our processes, approach, and methodologies to continually improve. Your professionalism and client relationships will directly support project extensions, referrals, and business growth, while exposure to diverse timber regions accelerates your career development.
WEEKLY TRAVEL
Engagements are at client sites and require weekly travel. A typical week runs Monday morning departure through Thursday evening, with Fridays working from home. Projects span North America, with the potential for international as well.
Ideal candidates are based in or near Portland, Spokane, Denver, Seattle-Tacoma, or within easy reach of a major regional airport in the western United States.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, forest engineering, forest products business, or similar. May also have a business degree and timber industry experience (required)
- Master's degree in forestry or related field (a plus)
- 1+ year of forest products industry experience; timber procurement/log buying preferred, though business or management roles are considered
- Confidence engaging client staff at the log yard/landing level
- Strong presentation and written communication skills
- Pragmatic, resilient, and innovative approach to problem-solving
- Strong analytical mindset and excellent Excel skills
- Ease working in the small-town communities where our clients operate
Determination of suitability as a Consultant or Senior Consultant will be dependent on experience, bearing, and education.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
