Founding Physical Commodity Trade & Financial Crime Investigator — CTRS360

Remote | Paid Consulting Engagement → Potential Leadership Role

CTRS360 is building verification and trust-record infrastructure for global physical commodity trade.

As we prepare for launch, we are looking for an experienced investigator to help build the human expertise and methodology behind our verification function.

This is not a traditional retail-bank AML, transaction-monitoring, or policy role.

We are looking for someone who understands investigations and ideally understands how cross-border physical commodity transactions work — someone who can examine a company, representative, claimed authority, document, or transaction; follow the evidence; identify inconsistencies; and clearly explain what can be verified, what cannot be verified, and what should be checked next.

What You’ll Help Us Build

You will work directly with our founder and technical team to develop CTRS360’s verification methodology, investigation procedures, escalation framework, and quality-control standards.

Your work may include:

Physical commodity counterparty and company verification
KYC/KYB and beneficial ownership investigation
Representative, mandate, and authority verification
Sanctions, PEP, adverse-media, and cross-border risk research
Trade-based money laundering (TBML) indicators
Source-of-funds and financial-evidence review
Review of physical commodity and trade-finance documentation
Identification of inconsistencies across documents, parties, transaction structures, and communications
Review of commodity contracts, invoices, Letters of Credit (LC), Standby Letters of Credit (SBLC), guarantees, Bills of Lading (B/L), inspection certificates, shipping documents, storage/terminal documentation, and related evidence
Shipping, vessel, logistics, and transaction corroboration where relevant
Practical fraud typologies specific to physical commodity trade
Verification and escalation procedures
Quality control of investigative findings
Clear, defensible evidence records and audit trails

You will also help us translate real investigative judgment into repeatable workflows that can be supported by technology and AI without replacing human judgment.

Who We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on experience in one or more of the following:

Physical commodity trading houses
Commodity trade finance / structured commodity trade finance
Energy, oil & gas, or petroleum trading
Metals and mining
Agriculture or soft commodities
Physical trade operations and execution
Shipping, maritime, terminals, or logistics
Trade-finance banking
Commodity counterparty risk and due diligence
Trade-based money laundering investigations
Sanctions involving commodities, vessels, goods, or cross-border trade
Complex cross-border fraud or financial-crime investigations

Strong preference will be given to candidates with direct physical commodity, commodity trade-finance, or international trade investigation experience.

However, we will also consider exceptional investigators with strong backgrounds in OSINT, financial crime, fraud, counterparty investigations, evidence analysis, or complex cross-border investigations who can demonstrate the ability to learn physical commodity transaction mechanics.

CAMS, CGSS, CFCS, CFE, CDCS, ICA, or similar credentials are welcome, but they are not the deciding factor.

What matters most is investigative judgment.

We want someone who is curious enough to keep asking questions, disciplined enough not to overstate what the evidence proves, and practical enough to know when additional investigation is actually necessary.

How the Engagement Starts

We plan to begin with a paid 4–6 week consulting engagement.

The initial work will involve working through representative physical commodity-trade verification cases with our founder and technical team and helping us develop the first version of CTRS360’s verification methodology and quality-control framework.

Compensation will depend on experience and agreed time commitment.

If there is a strong fit on both sides, we would like the relationship to develop into a longer-term leadership role as CTRS360 grows.

Location

Remote.

Bay Area preferred, but we are open to exceptional candidates globally, particularly those with experience in major commodity-trading centers such as London, Geneva, Dubai, Singapore, Houston, and New York.
