Anywhere Clinic is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist and Patient Services Representative to join our fully remote team

Overview:

Anywhere Clinic is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist and Patient Services Representative to join our fully remote team. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on experience in medical billing, insurance, and patient accounts, who also has excellent phone and customer service skills. The primary focus of this position will be assisting patients with billing questions, resolving account concerns, and ensuring timely and accurate follow-up, while also supporting our phone team with general patient inquiries. We are looking for someone who is highly knowledgeable, organized, dependable, and genuinely warm and compassionate when speaking with patients.

About the Role:

As a Billing Specialist and Patient Services Representative, you will be a key point of contact for patients who have questions or concerns about their bills, insurance, payments, and accounts. You will work closely with our existing billing team and internal staff to help ensure that patient billing concerns are handled accurately, efficiently, and with excellent communication.

When billing calls are not coming in, you will also support our Patient Services team by answering incoming calls and assisting patients with general questions and account-level support.

This is a highly patient-facing role, so exceptional communication and customer service are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Answer incoming patient billing calls with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
Use your medical billing knowledge to investigate and resolve patient billing questions and account concerns.
Assist patients with questions regarding balances, invoices, payments, insurance, and account charges.
Communicate with patients clearly and compassionately, including when discussing frustrating or confusing billing situations.
Follow up with patients promptly and thoroughly until their questions or concerns are resolved.
Coordinate with our billing team and other internal departments to resolve billing issues.
Accurately document patient interactions, billing inquiries, and account updates in our systems.
Support insurance verification and review insurance information when needed.
Answer general incoming patient calls and provide support to our Patient Services team during periods of high call volume.
Route calls and questions to the appropriate department when necessary.
Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
Work collaboratively with clinical, administrative, and billing staff to provide an excellent patient experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

Prior professional experience in medical billing is required.
Strong understanding of medical billing, insurance, patient accounts, and healthcare reimbursement.
Previous experience working in a medical office, healthcare organization, or similar setting.
Significant experience speaking with patients over the phone.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to investigate problems, identify solutions, and follow through until an issue is resolved.
Experience working with EHR and/or CRM systems.
Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a remote team.

Remote Work Requirements:

Must reside within the United States. Offshore applicants will not be considered.
Must be available to work 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday–Friday.
Reliable high-speed internet connection required.
Must have a quiet, professional, and confidential workspace suitable for handling patient phone calls and protected health information.

If you are highly knowledgeable about medical billing but do not enjoy working directly with patients or providing exceptional customer service, this is likely not the right role for you.
