Summary:

Kenah Consulting LLC

Kenah Consulting (Kenah) is a Small, Women-owned, Minority-owned (SWaM) certified anthropological and cultural heritage consulting firm that specializes in providing services to tribes and tribal organizations on enhancing tribal sovereignty and safeguarding tribal heritage. The firm also works with cultural heritage institutions that wish to better engage with tribal communities as collaborators and audiences. Kenah provides a wide range of services that include but are not limited to:

Strategic planning 
Procedure and policy development  
Facilitation of tribal consultation and collaboration 
Program development
Tribal historic preservation and cultural resource management
Ethnographic research and analysis  
Exhibit and interpretive program planning, development, and review

The Associate will support the firm across its entire portfolio and will be expected to work on a wide range of tasks including grant writing, implementation support, reporting, research, client communication, and deliverable development. The successful candidate will have relevant program development and management experience, knowledge of federal grant programs and administration requirements, and experience working respectfully with Tribes, tribal organizations, or Indigenous communities.

Job Responsibilities:

Support development, implementation, and management of client programs responsive to tribal priorities, community needs, and funding opportunities.
Assist with grant research, proposal development, narrative drafting, work plans, budgets, attachments, and submission materials.
Support federal grant administration, including reporting calendars, performance tracking, deliverable tracking, budget monitoring support, documentation, and closeout.
Assist clients with federal grant requirements, including allowable costs, procurement, internal controls, records retention, monitoring, and reporting.
Coordinate project timelines, task lists, meetings, follow-up items, files, and internal project management tools.
Prepare and edit reports, templates, policies, procedures, training materials, presentations, correspondence, and other client deliverables.
Conduct research and data analysis to support program planning, proposal development, implementation, evaluation, community engagement, deliverable development.
Participate in client and internal meetings; prepare agendas, notes, action items, and follow-up communications.
Communicate professionally with tribal leaders, tribal staff, community members, partners, consultants, and colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required in anthropology, history, public administration, nonprofit management, Indigenous studies, political science, public policy, community development, social sciences, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in program development, project coordination, grant writing, grant administration, nonprofit management, tribal administration, public sector work, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience working with Tribes, tribal organizations, Native communities, or Indigenous-serving institutions with professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and respect for tribal sovereignty.
Working knowledge of federal grant programs and administration requirements, including reporting, documentation, budget tracking, procurement, records management, monitoring, and evaluation.
Strong writing, editing, research, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint or similar systems.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while contributing to a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with federal programs serving Tribes or Native communities, including the Administration for Native Americans (ANA), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Park Service (NPS), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), or similar programs.
Familiarity with 2 CFR Part 200, federal reporting systems, objective work plans, performance measures, budget narratives, procurement documentation, financial tracking, and closeout.
Experience supporting tribal policies, procedures, strategic plans, community assessments, training materials, grant management tools, or program evaluation materials.
Experience with archival, historical, ethnographic, policy, or community-based research and participatory engagement activities.

Working Conditions and Requirements:

This is a remote position requiring a reliable work environment, consistent communication, and participation in virtual meetings during regular business hours.
Occasional travel and occasional evening or weekend work may be required for client meetings, trainings, community engagement, research, conferences, or grant deadlines.
The position requires prolonged computer-based work, organized electronic file management, confidentiality, professionalism, cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and sound judgment.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range: $50,000–$80,000 annually, depending on education, training, and relevant experience.
Benefits may include paid time off, sick leave, health reimbursement account, dental, vision, LTD, STD, and Life, 401(k) with company match consistent with Kenah Consulting policies and eligibility requirements.
