BAC delivers healthcare transformation, health informatics, program management, digital modernization, and clinical operational support services that improve outcomes for Veterans and healthcare providers nationwide.
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Informaticist with a strong understanding of VA clinical workflows, VistA, CPRS, and VA healthcare operations to support ongoing and upcoming programs across the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
Position Overview
The successful candidate will leverage clinical nursing expertise and health informatics knowledge to optimize healthcare technologies, improve clinical workflows, support system modernization initiatives, and enhance patient care delivery across VA healthcare environments.
This position requires a professional with demonstrated experience supporting VHA clinical operations and working within legacy and modernized health information systems, including VistA and CPRS.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Informatics Support
- Analyze and optimize clinical workflows within VA healthcare environments.
- Collaborate with clinicians, operational leaders, and technical teams to identify process improvements and technology solutions.
- Translate clinical requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Support adoption of health information technologies that improve patient care, safety, efficiency, and clinician satisfaction.
VistA and CPRS Expertise
- Provide subject matter expertise on VistA and CPRS functionality, workflows, and clinical documentation processes.
- Assess impacts of proposed system changes on providers, nursing staff, and clinical operations.
- Support configuration reviews, workflow assessments, and system validation activities.
- Assist with requirements gathering, testing, training, and deployment of clinical applications.
Health Informatics and Data Analysis
- Analyze clinical and operational data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support data-driven decision-making processes using VA clinical and operational datasets.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and recommendations to support healthcare leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and requirements sessions with VA stakeholders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, informaticists, analysts, and IT professionals.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical clinical audiences.
Training and Change Management
- Develop and deliver user training materials and educational resources.
- Support organizational change management efforts associated with clinical system enhancements and modernization initiatives.
- Provide end-user support and workflow guidance during implementation activities.
Compliance and Quality
- Ensure adherence to VA policies, healthcare regulations, privacy requirements, and industry best practices.
- Support accreditation, quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance activities.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in at least one U.S. state or territory.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience and 3 years of healthcare informatics experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and/or Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
- Working knowledge of:
- VistA
- CPRS
- VA clinical workflows
- Clinical documentation processes
- Patient care delivery systems
- Experience conducting workflow analyses and requirements gathering.
- Experience supporting healthcare IT implementations, upgrades, or modernization initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing Informatics, Healthcare Informatics, Public Health, or related discipline.
- ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC).
- Experience supporting:
- VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM)
- Oracle Health/Cerner environments
- Clinical decision support systems
- Population health initiatives
- Health information exchanges
- Familiarity with VA data sources and reporting tools.
- Experience supporting federal healthcare contracts.
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Prosci, or related certifications.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
