Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk/Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing financial records, supporting accounting operations, and providing administrative support to ensure smooth business functions. Your energetic approach and meticulous attention to detail will help us maintain accurate financial data, streamline processes, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in accounting systems and financial software while contributing to our organization’s success.

Responsibilities

Perform data entry and maintain accurate records using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
Prepare journal entries, assist with month-end closing activities, and support general ledger accounting functions.
Handle confidential information with integrity while adhering to SOX compliance standards and GAAP guidelines.
Support payroll management using systems like ADP, Ceridian, UltiPro, or Kronos, including processing timesheets and verifying payroll data.
Assist with budget preparation, account analysis, and financial data analysis using Excel data analysis techniques.

Skills

Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, governmental accounting practices, and technical accounting concepts.
Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Paychex, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; experience with ADP or Kronos is a plus.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of accounting standards including GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to handle accounts payable/receivable management, bookkeeping, and payroll processing accurately.
Strong numeracy skills with the ability to perform account reconciliation, journal entries, and account analysis efficiently.
Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on detail-oriented work in a fast-paced environment; experience with double entry bookkeeping and 10 key typing is preferred.
Effective communication skills for customer service interactions and team collaboration; familiarity with public accounting or non-profit accounting is advantageous.
