Overview

This position seeking a Florida-licensed physician (MD or DO) to serve as Collaborating/Supervising Physician. This is a remote, part-time independent contractor arrangement requiring minimal hours per month. The role fulfills Florida statutory supervisory requirements and provides consultation and oversight for our APRN clinicians. No in-person presence is required. Great for a retiring physician looking for supplemental income.

Responsibilities

Collaborative Practice Agreement: Execute and maintain a written Collaborative Practice Agreement (Protocol) with Ravia Health APRNs in compliance with Florida Statute § 458.348. Review and co-sign the protocol annually or as practice needs change.

Board of Medicine Notification: Submit required notice to the Florida Board of Medicine within 30 days of entering the supervisory relationship, and within 30 days of termination, as required by FS § 458.348.

Consultation Availability: Be reasonably available by phone, text, or secure messaging during scheduled practice hours for clinical consultation. Asynchronous availability (same business day response) is generally sufficient for this non-complex population.

Chart Review: Conduct periodic chart review of APRN patient records per the terms of the collaborative agreement — typically a minimum of 10% of charts on an agreed-upon schedule (monthly or quarterly).

Prescriptive Authority Oversight: Authorize and oversee prescriptive authority delegation within the protocol, including psychotropic medications and controlled substances. Ensure DEA registration remains current if Schedule II–IV medications are delegated.

Emergency & Escalation Consultation: Provide guidance for any patient presenting with clinical complexity beyond APRN scope, safety concerns, or need for psychiatric hospitalization or higher level of care coordination.

Protocol Updates: Collaborate with APRN(s) to update treatment protocols as clinical needs, formulary changes, or state regulatory requirements evolve.

Documentation: Maintain a copy of the signed supervisory protocol at the practice's primary telehealth site in compliance with Florida Board of Nursing requirements.

Qualifications

Medical degree (MD or DO) with active licensure to practice psychiatry in the relevant jurisdiction.
Post-residency experience in psychiatry with demonstrated expertise in pediatric psychiatry, Geriatrics, or behavioral health settings.
Proven experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, or geriatric populations is highly desirable.
Strong background in hospital inpatient experience and outpatient clinic settings; telehealth experience is a plus.
Proficiency in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy techniques including psychodynamic therapy and CBT, and addiction counseling.
Familiarity with medical documentation systems adhering to HIPAA standards; excellent patient assessment skills.
Ability to manage crisis situations effectively; experience with PTSD care and working with individuals experiencing mental health emergencies.
Excellent communication skills for patient care coordination and team collaboration; comfortable working with diverse populations across various settings.

FLORIDA STATE REQUIREMENTS (APPLICANT MUST MEET ALL)

· Active, unrestricted Florida medical license (MD or DO) in good standing with the Florida Board of Medicine

· No history of disciplinary action, license suspension, or revocation in Florida or any other state

· Current DEA registration (required if APRN will prescribe Schedule II–IV controlled substances including stimulants for ADHD and benzodiazepines)

· Active Florida malpractice insurance (minimum coverage per Florida statute; no patient-care exemption applies to collaborating physicians)

· Willingness to comply with Florida Statute § 458.348 — Supervisory Responsibility for APRNs: file timely notification to the Florida Board of Medicine upon entering and terminating the supervisory relationship

· Specialty alignment: Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or other specialty with demonstrated experience in psychiatric/behavioral medication management preferred (per Florida Board of Nursing protocol requirements for psychotropic prescribing)

· Must not currently supervise more than two additional offices beyond primary practice location (specialty physician limit per FS § 458.348(3))

Agreement to maintain the signed Collaborative Practice Agreement at each APRN practice location as required by the Florida Board of Nursing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Board certification in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine

· Prior experience as a collaborating/supervising physician for an APRN practice or telehealth organization. Multistate licensed

· Familiarity with telepsychiatry and HIPAA-compliant electronic health records

· Comfort with asynchronous communication and remote oversight workflows

· Willingness to sign collaborative agreements for medications including SSRIs, SNRIs, stimulants (ADHD), non-benzodiazepine sleep agents, and GLP-1/metabolic medications where indicated

COMPENSATION

This is a paid independent contractor position. Compensation is structured as a monthly oversight stipend reflecting the non-complex, telehealth-based nature of Ravia Health's patient population and the limited hands-on time commitment required.

$350/month- starting salary increases by $100 per yr for 3 years
