Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Designer - Model Homes, Staging & Customer Experience is primarily responsible for staging and presenting model homes in a manner that supports sales efforts by furnishing, styling, and bringing spaces to life. This role works with client-provided model homes that are completed and ready for merchandising, and does not include designing structural layouts, floorplans, paint colors, or base home finishes.

This position focuses on enhancing the buyer’s experience through thoughtful presentation and execution. It combines creativity with hands-on involvement and cross-functional collaboration to ensure each model home is welcoming, functional, and aligned with brand standards.

Model Home Staging & Execution

Lead staging designs and presentation of model homes through furniture placement, décor, artwork, and accessories
Create visually appealing, lifestyle-driven spaces that connect with buyers in all markets
Oversee final design and work with on-site installation team
Collaborate with internal teams to align staging with overall goals

Customer Support & Design Guidance

Provide design guidance to Home Center locations and customers on furnishings and overall aesthetic
Help customers visualize how spaces function across a variety of home sizes and layouts through effective furniture placement and styling
Address questions related to décor and presentation (not architectural design)
Partner with clients to maximize value within budget guidelines while elevating the overall customer experience
Work with Product Development to assist in designing furniture

Trend & Brand Contribution

Stay current on home décor and staging trends
Recommend updates to keep current model homes fresh and relevant
Maintain consistency with brand standards across all staged homes
Hold current quality standards and initiate updates as market demands

Qualifications (Preferred)

Experience in interior design, staging, merchandising, or related field
Background in home staging, furniture retail, or visual merchandising
Portfolio of relevant work
Familiarity with design tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe) is a plus

Skills & Competencies

Strong eye for furniture layout, appropriate scale, and overall styling
Creative and detail-oriented mindset
Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
Team-oriented and collaborative
Organized with logistics and vendor coordination
Customer-focused and solution-oriented

Work Environment & Expectations

Combination of office, warehouse, showroom, and on-site environments
Hands-on staging involvement (moving and arranging furniture)
Occasional travel to model homes and installations
Flexibility to support installation schedules

Key Clarification

Staging and presentation role—not a traditional interior design position
No responsibility for floorplans, structural design, or architectural decisions
Success measured by quality of presentation and impact on customer engagement
