Job Summary

Pay: $45/hour

Job Type: Contract/Part-Time

Schedule/Location: Remote; standard business hours with flexibility based on production deadlines.

Wainscot Media is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Print Production Manager to oversee magazine print production for company-owned and custom titles. The role is responsible for managing schedules, vendors, paper specifications, and print quality to ensure each publication is produced efficiently and delivered on time.

Responsibilities

Create print orders based on circulation needs
Manage the annual print schedule in coordination with the printer
Oversee print workflow, quality, and fulfillment with external vendors
Coordinate paper specifications, ordering, and delivery with the paper broker
Review printer invoices and monitor compliance with pricing and paper usage
Support custom titles by coordinating mailing lists, postage estimates, and deposits
Work with the printer to speed workflow and ensure quality on press, in the bindery, and in logistics/fulfillment, ensure paper use, inventory, and storage are being managed well
Support the sales effort by obtaining cost quotations from printers for ad hoc print jobs and proposals
On custom titles, contact clients directly to obtain their customer mailing lists, relay postage estimates, and ensure the clients submit postage deposits in advance of mailing

Required Qualifications

Experience in print production, magazine production, publishing or related field
Strong understanding of print workflows, scheduling, and quality control
Experience working with printers, brokers, and other production vendors
Strong organizational, communications, and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and review production details accurately

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in magazine or custom publishing
Familiarity with circulation, mailing, and postage coordination
Experience supporting print estimates, vendor management, or production cost tracking
