Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial software, and regulatory standards such as GAAP and SOX. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting various accounting functions including general ledger management, financial reporting, and compliance. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of financial data across multiple platforms.

Duties

Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including financial statement preparation and analysis.
Support payroll management activities utilizing systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian.
Ensure compliance with SOX controls and assist in internal audits related to financial processes.
Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy using 10 key typing skills and double entry bookkeeping methods.
Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or variances and recommend corrective actions.
Assist with budgeting, tax preparation, and financial forecasting activities as needed.
Maintain detailed documentation of accounting transactions and support external audits.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or relevant certification is a plus.
Proven experience with corporate accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting environments preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial concepts.
Proficiency in various accounting software such as Workday, SAP (PeopleSoft), QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
Experience with payroll management systems like Paychex or ADP is highly desirable.
Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail; proficiency in 10 key typing essential.
Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately and efficiently using tools like Excel or specialized financial software.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare detailed reports.
Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with tax-related processes is advantageous.
