Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and strategically minded U.S. Foreign Policy Advisor to join our Geopolitical Risk & Strategic Advisory practice. This role focuses on analysing U.S. foreign policy developments and their implications for international politics, global markets, and business operations. The successful candidate will provide strategic insights on U.S. diplomatic priorities, international security, geopolitical competition, sanctions, and multilateral engagement to support clients in making informed business and investment decisions.

Responsibilities

Foreign Policy Analysis: Monitor and analyse U.S. foreign policy developments, diplomatic initiatives, and international relations. Assess the strategic implications of U.S. engagement with key regions, allies, and strategic competitors. Evaluate the impact of U.S. foreign policy decisions on international trade, investment, sanctions, and geopolitical stability.
Client Advisory & Strategic Support: Translate foreign policy developments into actionable intelligence and strategic recommendations for clients. Advise clients on geopolitical risks arising from U.S. diplomatic, security, and economic policies. Support strategic advisory engagements across sectors including defence, energy, technology, finance, healthcare, and critical infrastructure.
Strategic Forecasting & Scenario Planning: Develop forward-looking assessments of U.S. foreign policy trajectories and their potential global impacts. Identify emerging geopolitical risks affecting market access, supply chains, regulatory compliance, and investment decisions. Support crisis response and scenario planning during major international events involving U.S. interests.
Research & Thought Leadership: Produce high-quality analytical reports, policy briefs, and client intelligence updates. Contribute to the firm's thought leadership on U.S. foreign policy, international security, and geopolitical developments. Present research findings to clients and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, International Security, Economics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
3+ years of experience in foreign policy analysis, government, think tanks, consulting, academia, international organisations, or strategic advisory.
Strong understanding of U.S. foreign policy institutions and decision-making processes; international diplomacy and global security issues; U.S. alliances, strategic competition, sanctions, and international trade policy; and regional dynamics across Europe, the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
Demonstrated ability to translate foreign policy developments into commercial and strategic implications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience with U.S. government agencies, or Congress.
Experience in a policy institute, geopolitical risk consultancy, or international organisation.
Established professional network within U.S. foreign policy, diplomatic, or national security circles.
Experience briefing senior executives or government officials on international affairs.
