Platform Lead
Location: Memphis, TN preferred (2-3x onsite per quarter) | Hybrid or Remote within the U.S.
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $150,000–$180,000 base salary
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Platform Lead to take end-to-end ownership of a complex ERP platform serving the flooring and broader trade industries.
This is a senior technical leadership role for someone who enjoys owning the entire system - not just one piece of it. You’ll lead architecture and technical decision-making, take ownership of cloud infrastructure and engineering delivery, remain hands-on with development, and help shape a lean, high-performing engineering team.
The platform is a large TypeScript-based monorepo with 60+ backend modules, multiple frontend applications, shared libraries, complex ERP workflows, and significant accounting and inventory functionality. Your first priority will be completing knowledge transfer from the current international contractor team and becoming the person the business relies on when the platform needs to be understood, improved, or fixed.
What You’ll Do
- Own the technical platform end to end, including architecture, application development, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, reliability, and technical strategy
- Complete knowledge transfer from the current contractor team and quickly develop deep ownership of the system
- Make and drive architecture decisions across backend, frontend, infrastructure, data, and engineering standards
- Remain hands-on with development, with an expected balance of approximately 50% technical contribution and 50% leadership/strategy as the role matures
- Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and help build a lean domestic, nearshore, or hybrid engineering team
- Own cloud architecture in AWS or Google Cloud, along with deployment, scalability, monitoring, and operational reliability
- Maintain and improve the CI/CD pipeline, with GitLab experience strongly preferred
- Solve high-impact and complex platform issues across the application and infrastructure stack
- Partner with leadership on product priorities, technical strategy, and the platform roadmap
- Support customer and operational issues when deep platform expertise is required
- Leverage AI-assisted development and automation to improve engineering productivity and enable a small team to deliver outsized results
The current environment includes technologies such as TypeScript, NestJS, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, Sentry, and AI-assisted development workflows.
What We’re Looking For
Must Have
- Senior-level software engineering experience with ownership of complex, production-grade systems
- Strong experience owning a platform across application architecture, infrastructure, data, deployment, and reliability
- Hands-on cloud architecture experience with AWS or Google Cloud
- Experience owning and operating a full CI/CD pipeline in a cloud environment
- Strong GitLab CI/CD experience or closely comparable experience
- Ability to work across backend, frontend, databases, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps
- Strong architectural judgment and the ability to make decisions and execute without excessive process or handoffs
- Experience leading and mentoring engineers while remaining hands-on technically
- A startup or bootstrap mindset and comfort operating with limited resources and high accountability
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with ERP, financial systems, accounting, inventory, supply chain, or other complex multi-module business platforms
- Familiarity with double-entry accounting, ledgers, reconciliation, or financial data integrity
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, or Kubernetes
- Experience with observability and quality tooling such as Sentry, OpenTelemetry, Cypress, or similar technologies
- Experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar agentic workflows
- Experience scaling or leading a small engineering team
The Right Fit
You’re likely to thrive here if you take genuine ownership, move decisively, and enjoy solving difficult problems without waiting for someone else to define every step.
This is not a traditional corporate management role. We’re looking for someone who can operate with a startup mentality, move comfortably between architecture, coding, infrastructure, debugging, customer problems, and team leadership, and treat the platform as if it were their own.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 6 months, you will have:
- Completed knowledge transfer and taken full ownership of the platform
- Become the primary technical point of escalation for complex system issues
- Made meaningful hands-on contributions across the application and infrastructure
- Improved the platform’s architecture, reliability, CI/CD, observability, or engineering processes
- Helped define the future engineering team structure and technical direction
- Established yourself as a trusted technical partner to both the engineering team and company leadership
Pay: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k) matching
- Health insurance
- Life insurance
- Paid time off
- Vision insurance
