Description
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Senior Research Associate serves as a key member of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR), supporting institutional reporting, analytics, systems operations, dashboard development, and course evaluation processes.
The position provides operational and analytical support across multiple functional areas within OIR, including enterprise reporting, Business Objects reporting environments, Tableau dashboard development, survey and course evaluation administration, data validation, and institutional analytics.
The successful candidate will possess a blend of institutional research, reporting, analytical, and technical skills and will work collaboratively with both Associate Directors to support institutional decision-making, reporting integrity, and operational effectiveness.
The Office of Institutional Research at Pratt Institute operates with a broader scope than many traditional institutional research offices. In addition to institutional research and reporting functions, the office supports data systems, survey operations, dashboard development, reporting infrastructure, and institutional data governance initiatives. As a result, successful candidates must be comfortable working across analytical, reporting, and technical domains.
Examples of Duties
Reporting Systems and Business Objects Support (15%)

Support the maintenance and operation of SAP Business Objects reporting environments.

Assist in validating, testing, and troubleshooting institutional reports.

Support report inventory, documentation, and reporting continuity efforts.

Assist in maintaining reporting standards and data consistency across systems.
Technology, Systems and Data Integrity Support (15%)
-
Support the Associate Director for Technology, Systems and Data Integrity in maintaining reporting infrastructure and data systems.

Assist with ETL processes, data validation, and documentation of institutional data structures.

Support Tableau data sources, reporting extracts, and data quality initiatives.
-
Participate in data governance, stewardship, and institutional data integrity activities.
Student Evaluation of Teaching Operations (30%)
-
Support administration of the Institute's course evaluation process.

Assist with survey population management, testing, validation, and reporting.
-
Support faculty, administrative, and student inquiries related to course evaluations.
-
Assist in preparing aggregated reports and evaluation outputs for institutional stakeholders.

Support other survey administration activities as assigned.
Dashboard Development and Maintenance (30%)

Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and data visualizations.

Develop dashboard enhancements to support institutional planning and decision-making.

Assist in maintaining Tableau data sources, extracts, and publishing workflows.

Work collaboratively with institutional stakeholders to identify reporting and visualization needs.
Analytical Support (10%)

Conduct institutional analyses and prepare reports in support of strategic initiatives.

Assist with ad hoc reporting requests.

Support survey analysis, program evaluation, and institutional effectiveness projects.

Contribute to data-informed decision-making efforts across the Institute.
Additional Responsibilities

Collaborate with colleagues to improve institutional research and reporting processes.

Assist in maintaining documentation and operational continuity plans.

Participate in office-wide initiatives related to analytics, reporting, assessment, and governance.

Serve on committees and institutional working groups as assigned.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Experience in Institutional Research, Higher Education Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience working with large administrative datasets.

Experience with Tableau, SQL, Business Objects, or comparable reporting environments.
-
Experience with survey administration and evaluation processes preferred.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to work across technical and non-technical audiences.
