Dental Tax Manager

Dental Tax Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Dental Tax Manager to lead tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for dental practices and dentists. The ideal candidate will combine strong public accounting experience with deep knowledge of dental industry tax issues to manage client relationships, oversee tax return preparation and review, and deliver proactive strategies that minimize tax liability and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage tax compliance and planning for dental clients, including dentists, group practices, DSOs, and allied dental entities.
Oversee preparation, review, and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns (individual, partnership, S corporation, and corporate returns) and related schedules.
Provide tax research and technical guidance on dental-specific issues such as practice acquisitions, entity selection, compensation planning, fringe benefits, retirement plans, and tax credits.
Develop and communicate proactive tax strategies to minimize tax liability and support client business objectives.
Supervise, mentor, and train tax staff; review workpapers and returns for accuracy and quality.
Manage client relationships, act as primary point of contact for tax matters, and coordinate with audit and advisory teams as needed.
Coordinate and support tax notices, audits, and controversy matters with tax authorities.
Contribute to business development by identifying new service opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in client meetings and industry events.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field; Masters degree or tax specialization is a plus.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required or active progress toward CPA licensure.
Minimum 57 years of public accounting experience with a strong emphasis on tax compliance and planning; experience serving dental clients strongly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of tax return preparation for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and corporations; familiarity with state and local tax issues.
Experience advising dentists and dental practices on tax, entity structuring, acquisitions, and compensation strategies.
Strong technical tax research skills and the ability to translate complex tax rules into practical client advice.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with proven ability to manage and mentor staff.
Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office; experience with common accounting/tax platforms used in public accounting firms.
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
