Role Overview

As a Sr Systems Engineer (Lead), you will serve as both a hands-on technical expert and a leader within the engineering team. This role blends deep technical execution with team leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight, helping elevate the skillset of the broader team while maintaining direct involvement in client environments and solution delivery.

You will take ownership of complex engineering initiatives, lead by example, and play a key role in shaping standards, best practices, and the overall technical and operational direction of the organization.

Responsibilities

· Must have previous experience working in a fast-paced Managed Service or IT Consulting organization supporting multiple mid-sized environments (1,000+ endpoints) and expert in Microsoft tools (Azure, M365, EntraID, Intune, Purview, Defender).

· Experience in designing, developing, and managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure and applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.

· Serve as a technical lead on projects and escalations, providing guidance and direction to engineers across the team.

· Balance hands-on engineering responsibilities with leadership and operational duties, remaining actively involved in architecture, troubleshooting, and implementation.

· Monitor service delivery health, identify trends, and proactively address risks impacting operations or customer satisfaction.

· Partner with Service Desk and Operations teams to improve incident response, escalation paths, and overall service efficiency.

· Drive standards and consistency across client environments, ensuring high-quality delivery and operational excellence.

· Create and maintain detailed documentation of configurations, architectural diagrams, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for Azure infrastructure.

· Ensuring quality, integrity, and governance standards are met throughout the engineering lifecycle.

· Identify and implement automation opportunities using PowerShell scripts, templates, or other cloud-based automation tools.

· Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements (SEC, GDPR, SOC, PCI, HIPAA).

· Strong understanding of networking concepts, such as VPN, firewalls, and DNS.

Leadership & Collaboration Expectations

· Previous experience in a Lead, Senior Lead, or Manager role strongly preferred.

· Provide operational leadership and oversight, ensuring engineering efforts align with service delivery goals and SLAs.

· Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues and critical incidents.

This is a contract to hire position.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
