Full Job Description

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to help support heavy civil and construction projects, including waterline installation, utilities, structural steel work, concrete, site work, and federal/municipal construction projects.

This position is ideal for someone who understands construction, can stay organized, communicate with vendors/subcontractors, manage paperwork, and help keep projects moving from preconstruction through closeout.

The right person does not need to know everything, but they must be sharp, dependable, organized, and willing to learn fast.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

Manage and track submittals, product data, shop drawings, samples, and closeout documents
Prepare and track RFIs, change order backup, field documentation, and project correspondence
Assist with preconstruction, bid reviews, scope reviews, takeoffs, vendor quotes, and subcontractor pricing
Coordinate purchasing, material orders, vendor quotes, lead times, deliveries, and buyouts
Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, superintendents, owners, engineers, and project managers
Help review plans, specifications, addenda, and project requirements
Maintain project schedules, procurement logs, submittal logs, and document control
Assist with pay applications, invoices, change orders, and cost tracking
Support field operations by helping solve coordination issues before they become delays
Help manage project closeout, warranties, as-builts, O&M manuals, and final documentation
Perform general project coordination and administrative support for active construction projects

Project Types

Our work may include:

Waterline and utility installation
Heavy civil construction
Structural steel coordination
Concrete and site work
Federal, state, municipal, and commercial projects
Remote/out-of-town projects when required

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

2+ years of construction experience preferred
Experience with heavy civil, utilities, waterline, structural steel, concrete, or commercial construction is a plus
Ability to read plans, specifications, and construction documents
Experience with submittals, RFIs, purchasing, scheduling, or project coordination
Strong communication and organization skills
Comfortable calling vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and engineers
Proficient with email, PDF plans, Microsoft Excel, and basic construction software
Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow through without being constantly reminded
Degree is not required if the candidate has strong construction experience

Pay: $40,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
