Full Job Description

Ment Law Group, PC is a growing Connecticut law firm with a national focus on travel law. We represent travel agencies, tour operators, host agencies, and travel technology companies as their day to day outside counsel. The firm has expanded steadily since 2018 and continues to grow into new practice areas. This is a remote position. The firm maintains offices in Hartford and Westport, Connecticut.

We are looking for an attorney who wants to be a business owner's lawyer. This is a high volume, fast turnaround practice built on long term client relationships, not a deal shop. Our attorneys carry a broad portfolio of active clients and are the first call when those clients have a contract to review, a business to buy or sell, an entity to form, or a question they need answered this week. If you are looking to run large scale M&A transactions, this is not that role. If you want direct client contact, real autonomy, and variety across corporate, contract, and advisory work, it is.

What You'll Do

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including client terms and conditions, agency and supplier agreements, independent contractor agreements, SaaS and technology agreements, NDAs, and releases
Serve as ongoing counsel to a portfolio of small business clients, responding to legal questions across contract, employment, regulatory, and business operations issues by phone and email
Advise on and execute the purchase and sale of closely held businesses, including letters of intent, asset purchase agreements, earnout arrangements, and related transaction documents
Handle entity formations, dissolutions, ownership changes, and corporate governance matters
Manage redline cycles with counterparties and advise clients on negotiating positions in plain business terms
Prepare demand letters and pre-litigation correspondence; support dispute matters as needed
Represent the firm at industry conferences and client events as opportunities arise

What We Are Looking For

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active bar admission and good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction
4 to 8 years of experience in corporate, commercial contracts, small business, or outside general counsel practice
Experience advising closely held businesses and their owners; hands on involvement in at least one business purchase or sale at any scale is strongly preferred over large firm deal support experience
Strong drafting skills; comfortable working from a client's business goals rather than detailed instructions
Demonstrated ability to independently manage a high volume caseload from intake through completion, with same week turnaround expectations
Excellent client communication skills; able to explain legal issues clearly to non-lawyer owners and executives
Comfortable in a small firm environment where priorities shift and attorneys wear multiple hats
Travel industry experience is not required; curiosity about the industry and willingness to build specialized knowledge is
Willingness to travel occasionally for industry conferences and client events
Experience with practice management and billing software (Clio preferred)

Pay: $115,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
