Full Job Description

At EFS Group, PLLC, we help entrepreneurs and growing businesses make smarter financial decisions through proactive accounting, tax strategy, and advisory services.

We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Tax Accountant (EA) to lead and continue building our Tax Department.

This is an opportunity for a highly skilled tax professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with strategic advisory work, tax resolution, leadership, and meaningful client relationships.

The ideal candidate is not only a strong technical tax professional but also a client-centered communicator and leader who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with our accounting and financial strategy teams to deliver proactive, high-quality tax solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Department Leadership

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Tax Department.
Manage, mentor, and support the Tax Coordinator.
Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance client experience and team productivity.

Tax Preparation & Compliance

Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns.
Ensure timely and accurate filings for quarterly payments, extensions, and tax returns.
Stay up to date on tax law changes and implement best practices for compliance and efficiency.

Tax Resolution

Handle complex client issues such as IRS/state notices, audits, and disputes.
Develop resolution strategies (offers in compromise, installment agreements, penalty abatements).
Represent clients before the IRS and state authorities.

Tax Planning

Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to minimize liabilities and optimize tax positions.
Conduct thorough reviews of clients’ financial situations to develop and implement tax strategies for individuals and businesses.
Conduct tax research and analysis to support tax positions and planning strategies.

Client Management

Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and exceptional service.
Conduct client meetings to discuss planning strategies, resolution options, and progress.

Other projects as assigned by management.

About You:

Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or business.
Active Enrolled Agent (EA) license required.
4+ years of professional tax and accounting experience, with proven leadership or team management responsibilities.
Strong experience with tax planning, tax resolution, and client advisory services.
Experience handling IRS and state tax notices, audits, and disputes.
Proven ability to manage client relationships independently.
Excellent communicator with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and professionally to clients and team members.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and delegate effectively.
High integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.
