Accounting Manager

Most churches struggle with financial uncertainty and inconsistent systems.

At BeMissional Finance, we help churches gain financial clarity through outsourced accounting—so ministry leaders can focus on their mission, not their numbers.

Founded by a former pastor and accounting professional, we understand both the financial and leadership realities churches face. Our model combines structured systems, a distributed bookkeeping team, and client-facing accounting leadership to deliver reliable reporting and real clarity.

About the Role

As an Accounting Manager, you own the financial outcomes for a portfolio of churches.

You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for your clients while overseeing the work behind the scenes—ensuring financials are accurate, deadlines are met, and clients actually understand their numbers.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

Client Ownership

Serve as the main contact for your clients
Meet with church leaders to review financials and answer questions
Explain reports in a way non-accountants can understand

Financial Oversight

Review financial statements prepared by the bookkeeping team
Identify issues, inconsistencies, or missing information
Ensure reports are accurate before delivery

Workflow Design

Define the bookkeeping and accounting tasks for each client
Ensure work aligns with the client’s scope of services

Team Coordination

Work closely with Team Leaders to ensure tasks are completed correctly
Clarify workflows when client needs change

Problem Solving

Investigate issues and resolve financial or system challenges
Work with clients and software providers when needed

Scope Management

Monitor client activity to ensure work stays within scope
Flag opportunities to expand or adjust services

What You Need to Succeed

5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping/accounting experience
Strong experience reviewing financials (not just preparing them)
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and related tools
Ability to manage multiple clients at once
Strong communication skills with non-accountants
Leadership and coordination skills
Problem-solving mindset and ownership mentality
High attention to detail
Alignment with serving churches and mission-driven organizations
