Litigation Paralegal

A boutique firm. A family-oriented team. Thoughtful, careful work. We are looking for a skilled, autonomous litigation paralegal ready to add value from day one.

JJones Injury Law Group (JILG) is a Houston-based plaintiff personal injury boutique.

Our partners include a Division I athlete and former Harris County felony prosecutor, and a decorated combat veteran and former Texas judge who brings trial experience that includes serving as counsel on a team that secured one of the top 50 motor vehicle accident verdicts in Texas history — the kind of trial-tested background that shapes how every case here is built: disciplined, thorough, and ready for trial from day one.

That standard comes from both directions. The discipline of a Division I athlete and the drive for fairness earned from years as a felony prosecutor shape a team that prepares relentlessly and fights hardest for clients who are easy to overlook. The structure of a combat veteran and former judge adds the rigor that makes it repeatable — clear ownership, clear deadlines, no guesswork. Together, staff are expected to think independently, research thoroughly, and take ownership of their work from day one.

We handle:

Motor vehicle accidents (car accidents and commercial trucking/18-wheeler crashes)
Rideshare accidents
Wrongful death
Malpractice: legal & medical
Premises liability, including slip, trip, and fall
Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act (TMFPA)

Required

Litigation experience with multiple cases worked from petition through trial — full litigation lifecycle, not just pre-suit settlements
Autonomy and ownership — works independently with minimal supervision
Punctuality and consistent timeliness — court deadlines, client commitments, internal benchmarks. Non-negotiable.
Team-oriented mindset — collaborative, communicative, supportive of others
Exceptional written communication — motions, demands, client updates. Writing sample required.
Strong verbal communication with clients, providers, courts, and opposing counsel
Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, court rules, and litigation deadlines
Experience with eFileTexas, MyCase (or comparable), and Google Workspace
Comfort with legal research (Westlaw, Lexis, Fastcase, or comparable)
Drafts complex legal documents with minimal supervision

Preferred

2+ years of litigation paralegal experience (candidates with fewer years who clearly demonstrate the required experience will be considered)
Plaintiff personal injury experience
Exposure to commercial or complex PI matters (trucking, premises, products, catastrophic injury, med mal, TMFPA) — a plus, not required
Paralegal certificate or relevant degree
Prior experience attending civil jury trials in Texas

What You’ll Do

Drive cases forward. Work a plaintiff PI caseload from suit filing through resolution. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas — court-ready the first time.
Build the record. Summarize medical records, depositions, and discovery. Prepare damages summaries, chronologies, demand packages.
Run discovery and trial prep. Coordinate discovery, depositions, and experts. Build trial binders, witness lists, exhibit indexes. Attend trial and assist in the courtroom.
Anchor the client. Respond within 24 hours. Communicate with clarity and empathy.
Manage the calendar. Deadlines, hearings, mediations, trial settings — lead them, don’t react to them.
