Full Job Description

RRS Claims Specialist III: Responsible for hospital and/or physician billing collections and

follow up. This position is specifically focused on Medicare claims follow-up and resolution,

requiring strong knowledge of Medicare billing requirements, claim processing, denials,

payment policies, and payer-specific procedures. Experience working directly with

Medicare claims is required. Other duties include:

Perform claims follow-up to resolve unpaid, underpaid, denied, and rejected claims.

Research claim status and determine appropriate next steps for resolution.

Resolve Medicare-specific billing and processing issues, including eligibility,

coverage, timely filing, medical necessity, and claim submission errors.

Correct and resubmit claims when appropriate.

Identify trends in denials and unpaid claims and escalate systemic issues.

Understand and apply Medicare billing guidelines and payer-specific requirements.

Navigate portals and other payer resources to research claim status and payment

issues.

Work Medicare accounts through the appropriate follow-up process to maximize

reimbursement.

Document all follow-up activity, correspondence, and resolution steps accurately.

SKILLS AND

QUALIFICATION

Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience performing Medicare claims follow-up

in a hospital or physician revenue cycle environment.

Comprehensive knowledge of insurance plans, member eligibility, and medical

billing

Strong understanding of Medicare billing, reimbursement, claim submission,

remittance advice, and Medicare-specific denial codes and requirements.

Understanding of CPT, ICD-10, UB, HCFA, and 837 terminologies

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Detail oriented, strong problem solving, analyzing information and research

skills

Computer proficiency; experience with financial software

Documentation and data entry skills

Ability to exceed assigned productivity targets (based on portfolio)

ENVIRORNMENT/

WORKING

CONDITIONS

Normal office environment. Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office

environment. Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.

Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs

dictate.
