Job Summary
Global Mission Technology Partners (GMTP) is seeking an experienced Senior Enterprise Architect to set technical direction across complex customer environments and carry that direction through implementation, deployment, and operational transition.
This role combines enterprise architecture ownership, technical delivery leadership, and direct executive-level customer engagement. You will assess complex technology environments, define target-state architectures and modernization roadmaps, lead technical decision-making across multi-team and multi-vendor programs, and advise senior customer leaders on how technology investments support business and mission outcomes.
We are looking for a senior technology leader who can move comfortably between enterprise strategy and implementation—someone who can define the architecture, communicate the vision, resolve difficult technical and organizational challenges, and help ensure that the resulting solutions deliver measurable outcomes.
Why This Role Is Different
This is not an architecture role focused primarily on producing diagrams, frameworks, or recommendations.
You'll have the opportunity to shape enterprise technology strategy while remaining closely connected to execution. You'll work directly with customer executives, architects, engineers, cybersecurity teams, program leadership, and technology partners to turn complex modernization objectives into secure, scalable, and executable solutions.
If you enjoy solving enterprise-scale technology challenges, influencing senior stakeholders, and seeing architecture carried through to measurable results, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Assess complex existing technology environments and develop modernization strategies, transition architectures, and implementation roadmaps.
- Define target-state architectures spanning applications, cloud and hybrid-cloud infrastructure, data, integration, identity, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and AI/ML.
- Establish architectural principles, standards, reference architectures, and technical governance.
- Identify architectural risk, technical debt, scalability constraints, security gaps, and modernization opportunities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies against customer requirements, enterprise strategy, security requirements, and operational needs.
- Provide senior technical leadership on large, complex, and high-visibility enterprise programs.
- Translate enterprise architecture and technology strategy into executable implementation plans.
- Partner with program and delivery leadership to establish technical priorities, milestones, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Lead technical decision-making across multiple engineering teams, vendors, platforms, and stakeholder organizations.
- Identify delivery risks early and help resolve technical, organizational, and operational obstacles.
- Define measurable technical and operational outcomes and communicate program impact to customer leadership.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor to customer executives and technology leadership.
- Lead architecture workshops, executive briefings, technical reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
- Communicate complex technical concepts, alternatives, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build consensus across stakeholder organizations with differing priorities and requirements.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to architects, engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and other technical staff.
- Lead architecture reviews focused on scalability, interoperability, security, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, API-first design, and cloud-native development.
- Incorporate cybersecurity, compliance, identity, and operational requirements into solutions from project inception.
- Support solution development for strategic customer opportunities, including discovery, solution architecture, technical approaches, estimates, presentations, and proposals.
- Contribute to the continued development of GMTP's enterprise architecture, cloud, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and technology modernization capabilities.
- Travel to customer locations when required, up to approximately 25%.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise technology, architecture, systems integration, software engineering, or technology consulting.
- Significant experience serving as an Enterprise Architect, Chief Architect, Distinguished Architect, Technical Director, or equivalent senior technical leader.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering large, complex enterprise technology programs.
- Ability to describe the scale and complexity of major programs, your individual responsibilities, significant challenges encountered, decisions made, and measurable outcomes achieved.
- Experience modernizing legacy enterprise systems and transitioning organizations to modern cloud, data, application, integration, and security architectures.
- Demonstrated technical depth across multiple enterprise technology domains, such as cloud and hybrid-cloud architecture, enterprise applications, APIs and distributed systems, data platforms, cybersecurity, identity, DevSecOps, containers, infrastructure automation, observability, and AI/ML.
- Experience translating enterprise architecture and technology strategy into executable implementation plans.
- Strong understanding of scalability, interoperability, security, reliability, maintainability, and enterprise integration principles.
- Executive-level written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and influence decisions across organizations without direct reporting authority.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote consulting environment.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- U.S. Federal Government, Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, or other highly regulated enterprise environments.
- FedRAMP, NIST cybersecurity frameworks, FISMA, Zero Trust Architecture, federal cloud environments, and Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes.
- TOGAF, DoDAF, FEAF, or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
- AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or complex hybrid-cloud environments.
- Enterprise application and integration architecture.
- Data platforms and advanced analytics.
- Cybersecurity and Zero Trust.
- Identity and access management.
- DevSecOps and CI/CD.
- Containers and modern application platforms.
- Infrastructure as code, automation, and observability.
- AI/ML and enterprise AI architecture.
- Enterprise architecture, cloud, cybersecurity, or related technical certifications.
- Consulting, systems integration, or professional services.
- Federal capture, solution development, and proposal support.
- Building or leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
