Sierra Community House is seeking a collaborative and community-focused Community Education & Prevention Manager to provide leadership, oversight, and coordination of community education, parenting and early learning, outreach, and violence prevention programming throughout the Tahoe/Truckee service area.
This position supervises and supports assigned staff; oversees program development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement; and builds strong partnerships with schools, businesses, community organizations, and agencies. In collaboration with the Director of Outreach & Community Engagement, the Manager also supports grant and contract compliance, program budgeting, reporting, strategic planning, and departmental goals.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader and strong communicator who is passionate about community education, prevention, collaboration, and creating responsive and accessible programs for diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of community education, parenting and early learning, outreach, and violence prevention programming.
- Plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve programs based on community needs, research, curriculum, and program outcomes.
- Supervise and support assigned staff, including hiring, orientation, training, performance management, and evaluation.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local schools, businesses, community organizations, agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Manage applicable grants, contracts, and memorandums of understanding (MOUs), ensuring program goals, reporting requirements, and deliverables are achieved.
- Support development and oversight of the Community Education & Prevention Program budget and monitor program spending.
- Ensure accurate and timely collection, evaluation, and reporting of program activities, statistics, outcomes, and narrative information.
- Provide community education, outreach, parenting and early learning, and violence prevention programming as needed, including presentations, trainings, awareness activities, and community events.
- Promote communication, collaboration, and service integration across Sierra Community House programs and departments.
- Participate in community partnerships, collaborative meetings, agency initiatives, and strategic planning.
- Support volunteer supervision and tracking within applicable programs.
- Participate in occasional evening and weekend activities based on program and agency needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, education, or a related field,or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of one year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of intimate partner/domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, violence prevention, and youth-related issues.
- Strong public speaking, presentation, facilitation, and community education skills.
- Strong leadership, supervision, team-building, organizational, and program management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, take initiative, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with schools, governmental agencies, businesses, community organizations, and other partners.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, email, shared calendars, electronic documents, and databases.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to drive legally without suspensions or restrictions.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills, written and oral, required.
Additional Position Requirements
This position participates in Sierra Community House's broader community response and crisis intervention work. The Community Education & Prevention Manager will attend the next available 69-hour Crisis Intervention Training following employment and other trainings as required.
The position may also provide direct support for Sierra Community House's 24-hour Community Helpline, including responding to emergency calls from law enforcement and hospitals as required by FTE status, and may provide crisis intervention support to community members as needed.

The position includes regular sitting, talking, hearing, and use of hands; frequent reaching and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds; and occasional standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The position requires travel throughout the service area and the ability to drive in heavy weather conditions.

Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 32-hour work week
Pay: $74,372.00 - $83,296.00 per year
