Full Job Description

Position: Experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Job Description: The Paralegal/Legal Assistant is responsible for providing support to an attorney on a day-to-day basis, as well as working closely with clients, legal assistants, and other team members to ensure effective and timely attention to important legal matters. Prior experience in a private practice firm is a MUST.

Essential Duties:

· Prepare correspondence, contracts, other documents and/or memoranda in draft and in final form from dictation, handwritten material, and typed copy;

· Effective communication with all clients in a timely manner;

· Draft/update/revise estate planning documents, transactional documents, and various litigation documents;

· Assist with court filings, notices, pleadings and/or other documents for attorneys as requested, and including electronic filing;

· Assist with recording of deeds, including electronic recording;

· Create, edit, and proofread complex and practice-specific legal documents, forms, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and completeness;

· Conduct legal research and summarize findings;

· Prepare various entity formation documents for attorney review.

Specific Skills/Knowledge:

· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Exceptional writing and proof reading abilities

· Effective communication skills

· Mastery of the English language and grammar to allow for advanced writing and editing of legal documents

· Meticulous attention to detail

· Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Word Perfect, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat

· Knowledge of MS Excel Power Point

· Knowledge of Electronic Filing/Recording

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma (required)
Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Paralegal Certificate (preferred)
2+ years’ experience in a law firm (required)
5+ years’ experience in a law firm or legal department (preferred)
Notary Public (preferred)
