Key Skill Areas
- Subject-Matter Mastery (NGSS): Deliver high-leverage Science instruction aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) by utilizing Impact’s high quality instructional materials, focusing on the transition from observational science to evidence-based modeling and claim-evidence-reasoning (CER) frameworks to ensure 9th-grade Biology readiness.
- Student Culture & Transitions: Implement developmentally appropriate classroom management that prioritizes logical consequences, student autonomy, and restorative practices tailored to the cognitive and social shifts of early adolescence.
- Data-Driven Instruction: Regularly analyze student lab reports and assessment data to differentiate instruction; focus on closing the gap in quantitative literacy by integrating math-based data analysis (graphing, variables, and statistics) into the science curriculum.
- Holistic Advisorship: Serve as the primary advocate and mentor for a dedicated small group of scholars; facilitate weekly advisory sessions focused on social-emotional development, academic goal-setting (including GPA tracking), and fostering a sense of belonging and community.
- Extended Learning Support: Design and lead high-dosage, once-per-week after-school tutoring sessions to provide targeted intervention and data-driven support for scholars identified through interim assessments.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate with grade-level teams to manage student transitions, departmentalized grading scales, and cross-functional behavioral supports that ensure consistency across multiple classrooms.
- Project-Based Learning (PBL) Facilitation: Facilitate rigorous, inquiry-based projects that challenge scholars to solve authentic problems or answer complex questions.

Deliver rigorous & engaging content while creating a safe & welcoming environment (70%)
- Ensure a positive learning environment by leveraging effective classroom management practices
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, implementing effective behavior management strategies, building strong student-teacher relationships, and creating a safe and joyful environment for optimal learning.
Plan and prepare for daily instruction (10%)
- Leverage comprehensive lesson plans anchored in high quality curriculum, anticipate student responses and potential challenges, and plan targeted questions and exemplar work samples.
- Communicate regularly with families, leveraging asset-based language to describe scholars’ academic and behavioral strengths and potential barriers.
Commit to professional learning, development, and growth (15%)
- Actively engage in instructional coaching and professional development aimed at improving your practice

Required Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree
- Science Content expertise
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years experience delivering rigorous and engaging instruction in a K-12 setting
- English Language Learner Endorsement
- Special Education Endorsement
- Experience with integrating emerging AI tools to optimize instructional design, personalize scholar support, and streamline administrative workflows
License/Certification
- Must have or be eligible for certification by OSPI with an endorsement in Elementary or Secondary Education (within 1-month of employment required)
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a food handler certification
Physical Demands
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching throughout the day. Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) with occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds). The employee must have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Work is primarily inside but has daily responsibilities outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather).
