Job Summary
Tailored Fence is a growing non-union fencing contractor seeking a highly experienced Fence Installer capable of installing multiple fence systems, hauling trailers, and operating equipment independently. This position includes commercial, industrial, and public works / prevailing wage projects. This role is intended for skilled installers but are willing to train the right applicant. However, you must have some knowledge and experience with hauling trailers and operating equipment.
Fence Types & Systems Installed
The preferred candidates would have some experience with multiple of the following:
- Chain link fencing (commercial & industrial)
- Ornamental steel fencing and gates
- Vinyl fencing systems
- Temporary construction fencing
- Post and pole fencing
- Automated and manual gate systems
Pay & Prevailing Wage Structure
- Base pay: $12.00–$19.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill level
- Prevailing wage projects:
- When assigned to public works projects, employees are paid state or federal prevailing wage rates, which are significantly higher than base pay
- Prevailing wage rates include base wage plus applicable fringe benefits, in accordance with project wage determinations
- Experienced installers regularly earn well above base hourly rates when working on prevailing wage jobs
- Overtime paid when applicable
Responsibilities
- Install fencing systems to professional and code-compliant standards
- Set, align, and finish posts using augers or driven methods
- Install and adjust gates and hardware; assist with gate operator installation
- Drive company trucks and haul and back trailers
- Load, secure, and transport materials and equipment
- Operate small construction equipment (skid steers, mini skids, augers, compactors)
- Work safely on all projects but especially active construction and public works sites
- Follow prevailing wage classifications and jobsite requirements
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites, shop, yard and vehicles
- Communicate progress and needs with foreman and management
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Confident towing and backing of trailers
- Experience operating construction equipment
- Physically capable of lifting 80+ lbs and working outdoors year-round
- Safety-focused, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working on public works projects and meeting reporting requirements
- OSHA 10 Training preferred
- Non-union position
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday–Friday
- Some weekends
- Overtime as required by project schedules
Work Location
- Idaho Falls, ID and surrounding areas
- May require travel/overnight stay for some projects
