Primary Job Function
The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Assistant Director of Athletics supports the Director of Athletics in the leadership, coordination, and daily operation of the District’s interscholastic athletic programs (7–12). This role is a critical administrative pillar ensuring that all athletic events, transportation, staffing, and facilities are compliant, equitable, and executed with a "culture of care" that prioritizes student-athlete success and safety.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in scholastic athletics, athletic administration, coaching, or related operational leadership.

Certifications: Possess or be eligible for a valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit and maintain knowledge of Lindsay’s Law (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) and Concussion Protocol requirements.

Logistics: Valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license; must pass a criminal background check (BCI/FBI).

Availability: Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and extended days.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Sports Administration or Educational Leadership.

Valid Ohio Administrative license (Principal or Superintendent).

Experience with athletic management and digital ticketing systems (e.g., FinalForms, DragonFly, HomeTown Ticketing).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative Leadership & Compliance

District Vision: Supports a shared vision for the athletic department aligned with the Portrait of an Educator and professional excellence standards.

Title IX & Equity: Conducts regular audits of equipment, facilities, and scheduling to ensure equitable opportunities for all student-athletes and strict compliance with Title IX federal regulations.

NIL Education: Assists the Director in educating student-athletes, parents, and coaches on Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) disclosure requirements per OHSAA Bylaw 4-11.

Academic Monitoring: Promotes the academic success of student-athletes through data-informed monitoring of eligibility and graduation progress.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Athletic Operations & Safety

Emergency Management: Collaborates with local law enforcement and medical personnel to develop, review, and implement site-specific Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for all athletic venues.

Event Management: Oversees operational readiness for contests (7–12), including scoreboards, timing systems, field preparation, and security staffing.

Junior High Leadership: Serves as the primary administrative lead for all Junior High athletic programming, managing schedules, coach-parent mediation, and MS-specific OHSAA compliance.

Official Liaison: Coordinates and verifies athletic schedules, including the assignment and payment of officials and event workers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Transportation & Logistics

Fleet Coordination: Verifies athletic transportation schedules via district systems, ensuring all teams have confirmed travel and addressing conflicts with the Transportation Department.

Facility Usage: Manages the District scheduling module for all athletic facilities to prevent usage conflicts between school and community groups.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Financial & System Oversight

Digital Revenue Management: Oversees digital ticketing platforms (e.g., HomeTown Ticketing) and gate-receipt protocols to ensure transparency and compliance with Ohio Auditor of State procedures.

System Integrity: Maintains accurate records in management systems, including athlete physicals, emergency medical forms, and pay-to-participate fee tracking.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Staff Support & Supervision

Mentorship: Assists in the recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of coaching staff, ensuring all coaches maintain valid permits and certifications.

Conflict Resolution: Mediates disputes between coaches, students, and parents with a focus on restorative practices and professional ethics.

Knowledge of: Ohio Standards for Professional Administrators; OHSAA regulations; Title IX equity standards; and internal controls for school finance.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Physical: Regularly required to communicate, sit, stand, and move for extended periods; must be able to lift/carry 25+ lbs on occasion.

Environment: Occasional exposure to outdoor weather extremes, loud noise environments, and potential exposure to bodily fluids (medical/athletic injuries).

Driving: Requires frequent travel between district sites and event venues.
