Full Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Manager for the night shift to lead operations within the Perioperative Services team at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, you will provide clinical and operational leadership for a specific surgical service line, ensuring specialty-specific preparedness, staff support, and coordinated patient care. The pay range for this role is $90,334.40-$180,689.60.

Responsibilities:

· Coordinate surgical case flow and resource allocation for assigned service lines in collaboration with the charge nurse to ensure on-time starts, efficient turnovers, and optimal throughput

· Act as the primary liaison between surgeons, staff, and leadership for operational and workflow issues and provide real-time clinical support, expertise, and mentoring to RNs and surgical staff

· Assist the Nurse Manager with scheduling, staff assignments, evaluations, departmental goals, tactical initiatives, and performance improvement plans, reviewing and adjusting daily for acuity and procedural complexity

· Support onboarding of new staff and surgeons, ensuring understanding of workflows and expectations, and identify training needs and coordinate with the Clinical Educator for targeted education

· Foster a respectful, inclusive, and accountable team culture

· Collaborate with surgeons and leadership to identify and justify capital equipment needs, promoting cost-effective care delivery through appropriate use of supplies, implants, equipment, and staff resources and encouraging initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce waste

· Review documentation for accuracy, particularly regarding implants, counts, and specialty-specific details to ensure compliance with hospital policies, union agreements, and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission

· Provide leadership coverage during the Nurse Manager’s absence and serve on departmental or hospital committees as assigned

Qualifications:

● Associate’s degree (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

● Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or a Nurse Licensure Compact state; active member of AORN and CNOR preferred

● 3+ years of relevant nursing care and leadership experience required

● Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain perioperative workflows and resource management
