Build an Innovative Pediatric Behavioral Health Program in Beautiful Newport, Rhode Island

The Foundation for Integrated Care (FIC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming healthcare through integrated behavioral health, is seeking an exceptional Pediatric Integrated Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join an innovative pediatric health initiative serving children, adolescents, and families throughout Newport and the East Bay of Rhode Island.

This is a unique opportunity to practice in both integrated pediatric primary care and traditional outpatient behavioral health settings, offering the ideal balance of collaboration, autonomy, variety, and professional growth.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

Unlike many psychiatric positions that are exclusively outpatient or exclusively consultative, this role offers a balance of integrated pediatric care and traditional psychiatric practice.

You will spend part of your week embedded within a large pediatric primary care practice, collaborating closely with pediatricians and behavioral health clinicians, while also maintaining an outpatient psychiatric practice within a community behavioral health setting.

This combination allows providers to enjoy the benefits of team based integrated care while maintaining meaningful longitudinal psychiatric treatment relationships.

Together, you will provide comprehensive care for children and adolescents within their pediatric medical home.

Position Structure

Approximately three days per week embedded within a large pediatric primary care practice
One to two days per week providing outpatient psychiatric services within a community behavioral health setting
Combination of in person and virtual care
Strong collaboration with integrated behavioral health clinicians and pediatric providers
Opportunities for consultation, care coordination, and multidisciplinary treatment planning

Responsibilities

Conduct psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
Provide medication management and ongoing psychiatric treatment
Collaborate with pediatric providers regarding behavioral health concerns
Participate in multidisciplinary case consultation and treatment planning
Support integrated behavioral health initiatives within primary care
Consult with medical providers regarding psychiatric treatment recommendations
Engage families in patient centered, evidence informed care
Participate in program development and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

Required

Licensed or license eligible Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in Rhode Island
PMHNP BC certification
DEA registration or ability to obtain
Experience working with children, adolescents, and families
Commitment to collaborative and integrated care

Preferred

Experience in child and adolescent psychiatry
Experience in integrated behavioral health, collaborative care, or primary care settings
Interest in innovation and program development
Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
