Full Job Description

This full-time, on-site Payroll/Accounting Clerk role is based in our Cumberland, WI office. The Payroll/Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing payroll for a dedicated portfolio of clients along with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entry work, including all necessary related reports.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing: Run client payrolls on weekly, biweekly, semi-annual, and annual cycles. Prepare payroll tax and garnishment reports and process all quarterly payroll reports. Prepare payroll records and reports for after-the-fact payrolls. Manage the Electronic Fund Transfer System (EFTS) for clients required to file payroll taxes electronically.
Year-End & Audit Reporting: Print and collate all year-end wage reports, including W-2, W-3, WT-7, and 940 filings. Complete all Workman's Compensation and insurance audits as requested by the State or client insurance carriers. Complete all federal and state Business Survey requests.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor bills and checks, invoice customers, and distribute statements. Prepare journal entries and communicate with clients regarding cash flow and operating financial needs.
Bookkeeping & Data Entry: Prepare sales tax filings and enter sales journals, checks, tax payments, and payroll checks. Post completed payroll to client QuickBooks accounts.

Schedule & Hours

Flexible Schedule Between Hours of: Monday – Thursday 7:00am–6:00pm and Fridays 7:00am–12:00pm, 40 hours per week with additional hours as needed during year-end W-2/1099 processing

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year accounting or business degree preferred, or equivalent professional payroll and bookkeeping experience.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, payroll software, Microsoft Excel, and federal/state online reporting sites.
Skills: Strong organizational, communication (oral and written), and human relations skills. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines simultaneously.
Requirements: Prior payroll processing experience is required. Must complete a minimum of 8 CPE credits annually (firm-assisted). Must adhere to firm Standards of Conduct as documented in the employee handbook.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
