Parts Department Manager

Founded in 1988, Dickson Equipment is a well-established dealer and full-service shop specializing in solid waste equipment — refuse collection bodies, rolloff and hooklift hoists, brush grapples, and more. We have spent nearly 40 years building our reputation on getting customers the right answer fast and standing behind what we sell.

We are located at 4525 Irving Blvd in Dallas, TX, and our parts department supports two groups of customers: our own in-house service technicians who need parts to complete repair jobs, and retail customers — municipalities, private haulers, and independent operators — who call or email us looking for components for their equipment.

This is a stable, long-established company in a specialized, recession-resistant industry.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Parts Department Manager to lead a team of 3–5 people. You will manage inventory, place stock orders, identify and source parts for both shop jobs and retail customers, and make sure everyone who calls, emails, or walks in gets taken care of accurately and promptly.

This role requires someone who is equally strong on product knowledge, organization, and customer service. If you love finding the right part, keeping a clean operation, and making customers feel like they called the right place — this is the job for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Lead and develop a parts team of 3–5 people

- Maintain inventory levels for common stock items; place replenishment orders to keep shelves stocked without overstock

- Accurately identify and source parts for in-shop repair jobs using part numbers, diagrams, serial numbers, and manufacturer catalogs

- Handle retail parts sales via phone and email for external customers

- Deliver excellent customer service — respond promptly, communicate clearly on availability and lead times, and follow through

- Coordinate closely with the service department on parts needs and job priorities

- Maintain an organized, accurate parts room and inventory system

- Research and source specialty or hard-to-find parts through manufacturer and aftermarket channels

- Monitor department performance including fill rates, inventory turns, and customer satisfaction

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

- Experience in a parts department role — heavy truck, refuse equipment, hydraulic or vocational equipment, or closely related field

- Excellent phone and email communication skills (a large share of customer interaction is remote)

- Strong customer service instincts — you own the problem until it's solved

- Ability to identify parts using catalogs, electronic systems, serial numbers, and diagrams

- High attention to detail and organizational discipline

Preferred:

- Prior supervisory or lead experience

- Familiarity with refuse bodies, rolloff hoists, hooklifts, or similar solid waste equipment

- Experience with inventory or parts management software
