BAS Lead Technician

Job Title: BAS Lead Technician
Employment Type: Direct Hire - Full-Time
Industry: Commercial / Industrial Construction
Location: DFW / Texas Projects
Pay: $25-$32/hr, depending on experience

Position Summary

Unified Personnel is seeking an experienced Lead BAS Technician to support commercial and industrial construction projects for one of our clients. This is a direct hire position where we will set up a second interview for a qualified candidate. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience installing, wiring, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and HVAC controls and can lead a team.

This position is ideal for a technician with experience in DDC controls, low-voltage systems, HVAC controls, sensors, actuators, controllers, control panels, and networked building automation systems.

Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and troubleshoot BAS/BMS control systems.
Install and wire low-voltage control circuits for HVAC equipment.
Install temperature, pressure, humidity, flow, and other control sensors.
Install and terminate actuators, valves, dampers, relays, controllers, and control panels.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, control diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Perform point-to-point checkout and verify proper operation of control devices.
Assist with BAS system startup, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Troubleshoot electrical, communication, and control-system issues.
Configure and test DDC controllers and associated devices.
Assist with integration of HVAC equipment into BAS/BMS platforms.
Identify wiring and installation issues and make necessary corrections.
Communicate with project managers, controls engineers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and other trades.
Maintain accurate documentation of installations, testing, and deficiencies.
Follow project safety requirements and company procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Qualifications

2+ years of experience working with BAS, BMS, HVAC controls, or DDC systems preferred.
Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems and controls.
Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams.
Experience terminating control wiring and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
Basic understanding of HVAC equipment and sequences of operation.
Ability to use a multimeter and other electrical test equipment.
Ability to identify and troubleshoot wiring, sensor, actuator, controller, and communication issues.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and around mechanical equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.

What We're Looking For

The ideal technician is hands-on, mechanically and electrically inclined, and comfortable troubleshooting problems in the field. You should be able to look at a wiring diagram, understand how the control system is supposed to operate, identify the problem, and make the necessary correction.

Experience with a specific BAS manufacturer is helpful, but strong fundamentals in HVAC controls, DDC, low-voltage wiring, and troubleshooting are more important.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and work from lifts.
Ability to work in mechanical rooms, ceilings, rooftops, and construction environments.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods.
Ability to work in varying weather and job-site conditions.
