Humble Crew Auto Spa — Plano, TX Job Type: Full-time, in-shop Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM. No weekends. Compensation: $40,000–$65,000/yr salary, based on experience. No commission, no flat rate.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced tinter to lead tint at our shop.
We're a Plano shop doing paint protection film, ceramic coating, paint correction, and tint on cars people care a lot about — Porsches, M cars, Teslas, trucks that get built out. Our reputation is built on the work being right, and tint is one of the first things a client sees.
You'd be our tint guy. You'd own the installs, set the standard, and have real say in how we run that part of the shop.
Two Things We Want to Be Straight About
First — tint won't fill your week, and we won't pretend it does. We don't do enough tint volume to keep one person in the booth forty hours. Some days you'll tint three cars. Some days you'll be on detail production — washes, decon, interiors, prepping paint for coating and PPF work. If you want to tint and only tint, we'd be wasting your time and you'd be bored inside a month.
Second — this is salary, not flat rate or commission. Same check every week, in slow February and in busy June. That's a real trade. If you're fast and you thrive on volume, a flat-rate shop will likely pay you more, and we'd rather you know that up front. What we're offering instead is a predictable income, no pressure to rush a car to make your number, and the room to do it right the first time.
Where This Goes
This is the part we think matters most, and it's why we'd rather hire a tinter than a career tint-only installer.
Ceramic coating, paint correction, and PPF all happen here every week, done by guys who are good at them. We'll teach you all three. A technician who can tint, coat, correct, and install film is worth considerably more than a tinter — here or anywhere you go next — and your pay here moves as those skills come in.
That's not a timeline we can promise, because it depends on reps and how fast you pick it up. But it's a real path, and the people already on this crew are walking it.
What You'd Be Doing
- Full tint installs — flat glass, back glass, brow strips, dot matrix, windshield strips. Ultrafit Vivid film across three tiers.
- Removals and reworks.
- Working within Texas tint law — 25% VLT minimum on front sides, windshield tint only above the AS-1 line, 25% reflectance cap, no red, blue, or amber. We turn down illegal installs, and we'll back you when you have to tell a customer no.
- Detail production between tint jobs — wash, decon, iron and clay, interiors, paint prep for coating and PPF.
- Keeping the booth clean enough to install in. You know why.
- Training into ceramic coating, paint correction, and PPF as you go.
What We're Looking For
- Shop tint experience. You can walk up to a vehicle you've never done, cut it, shrink the back glass, and hang it clean without anyone standing over you.
- Comfort hand-cutting. We run a plotter, but patterns are wrong often enough that you need to be able to work without one.
- A high bar on contamination and finish. Corners, edges, dot matrix — the details that separate a tint job people notice from one they don't.
- Willingness to have your work looked at. Every car gets checked here, including ours. It's how we hold the standard, not a knock on you.
- Genuine interest in cars. Most of our clients are enthusiasts, and it shows in the work when the person doing it cares.
- A valid driver's license and a clean enough record to move client vehicles.
- The physical side of it — on your feet, kneeling and reaching, through a Texas summer.
Pay & Schedule
- $40,000–$65,000/yr salaried, depending on experience.
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM. No weekends.
- No commission and no flat rate, deliberately — we don't want anyone weighing whether to redo a panel against what it costs them.
- Pay increases as you add coating, correction, and PPF to what you can do. We'll train those things even if you're experienced or if you're new.
