Shop Foreman / Production Supervisor
Richland, Washington | Full-Time | Monday-Friday
CORE Powder Coating is seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Shop Foreman to lead our production crew and oversee daily shop operations. We need a hands-on leader who can bring structure, accountability, and consistency to a fast-paced powder coating and metal-finishing environment.
This position is ideal for someone who combines strong crew-management experience with excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will evaluate the workload, determine the most efficient sequence of operations, anticipate problems, and keep employees moving toward daily production goals. We are looking for someone who approaches shop management with an analytical, engineer-like mindset.
Responsibilities
· Create and manage the daily production schedule.
· Prioritize jobs based on deadlines, complexity, equipment availability, and production flow.
· Assign work clearly and ensure employees understand and follow instructions.
· Keep difficult or time-consuming jobs from being delayed or avoided.
· Coordinate blasting, preparation, hanging, coating, curing, packaging, and delivery.
· Monitor productivity, quality, attendance, breaks, and use of work time.
· Hold employees accountable for completing work correctly and on schedule.
· Ensure management requests and priority tasks are completed without repeated follow-up.
· Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the shop.
· Establish a clear chain of command and provide consistent direction.
· Identify production bottlenecks, solve problems quickly, and adjust the schedule when needed.
· Train and coach employees while improving procedures, workflow, and overall efficiency.
· Communicate progress, delays, staffing concerns, and production needs to ownership.
Required Qualifications
· Previous experience supervising, managing, or leading a production, manufacturing, fabrication, automotive, coating, or industrial crew.
· Demonstrated ability to manage employees, assign work, enforce expectations, and maintain accountability.
· Strong organizational, scheduling, and time-management skills.
· Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
· Ability to evaluate multiple jobs and determine the most efficient order of operations.
· Confident, fair, and consistent leadership style.
· Strong verbal communication skills and dependable follow-through.
· Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive under pressure.
· Willingness to work alongside the crew when necessary while remaining focused on supervision and production oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, industrial technology, business management, or a related field.
· Experience in powder coating, sandblasting, metal preparation, fabrication, paint, or industrial finishing.
· Experience with production planning, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, workflow optimization, or standard operating procedures.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand equipment, production processes, and technical job requirements.

This person should be fair but firm, respectful but confident, and consistent from one day to the next. Employees must understand that instructions from the Shop Foreman are expected to be followed. The foreman must take ownership of shop performance and focus on solutions rather than excuses or blame.

Compensation and Application
Compensation: Based on experience, education, leadership ability, and relevant industry knowledge.
