Full Job Description

Job Summary

First Day Homecare is hiring compassionate, reliable Home Health Aides / Personal Care Aides to provide one-on-one care to clients in their own homes. Under the direction of our Registered Nurse Clinical Supervisor, you'll help clients maintain their comfort, safety, and independence — whether that's assisting with daily activities, providing companionship, or simply being a dependable, caring presence in someone's home.

Whether you're a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), Personal Care Aide (PCA), or a caregiver with hands-on experience, we have flexible work options for you.

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

What You'll Do

1. Performs simple procedures as an extension of therapy services under the direction and supervision of the therapist.

Range of motion exercises
Assistance in ambulation or transfers

2. Assists clients with their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including but not limited to

Bathing
Shampooing
Skin care/nail care
Oral hygiene
Shaving
Dressing
Meal preparation
Laundry
Light housekeeping

3. Provides companionship to clients as directed by the client's care plan.
4. Where authorized by the Agency, provides transportation to clients as directed by the client's care plan.
5. Assists in the administration of medications that are ordinarily self-administered under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (per state nurse practice laws and Agency policy).
6. Reports any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the supervisor. Follows reporting guidelines in the care plan.
7. Documents care provided and completes the forms required for the Agency's records. Completes the appropriate records to document care given and pertinent observations.
8. Works collaboratively with other members of the client's care team.
9. Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following Agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the supervisor.
10. Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment. Does not use equipment until orientation about its operation has been provided. Notifies supervisor of educational needs.
11. Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team through verbal reports, participation in staff meetings, and team conferences, as requested.
12. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
13. Attends in-service programs to meet compliance requirements. Notifies Agency supervisor of learning needs.
14. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

What You'll Need

Meet one (1) of the following:

At least 1 year of full-time direct client care experience in an institutional setting, or
At least 1 year of full-time direct client care experience in an agency setting within the last 5 years, or
Completion of a training/competency evaluation program meeting Texas regulation §558.701, plus home health experience within the past 24 months, or
Verified documentation from a nursing school director/dean confirming demonstrated competency in basic nursing skills, or
Active, good-standing listing on the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Nurse Aide Registry

Plus:

At least 18 years of age
Ability to read, write, and follow a written care plan
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Valid driver's license with insured, reliable vehicle (as required by role/client assignment)
Current CPR certification
Ability to pass a background check
