Over the last 24 years MSP (Machine Solution Providers) has dedicated itself to the design, construction, commissioning and servicing of Asphalt Shingles Manufacturing equipment and controls for the Roofing industry. In addition, MSP has provided services in Enclosure Panel Design for Automated Controls in various industries. We have extensive plans for service growth, and we are currently developing a Training & Knowledge Base Academy to help support personnel within the GTS family, MSP and Gyptech.

What You’ll Do
MSP is seeking a Field Service Technician/Representative to join our team. You will be traveling to customer sites to Inspect & Evaluate equipment to provide detailed Recommended Parts & Services to the customer. In doing so, you will bring MSP value directly to the customer with our OEM engineering, global supply, and knowledge base as tools. This position is based remotely within North America; however, it is primarily a field position with the requirement to travel to customer plants on a consistent basis.
Your role will involve:
Technical Expertise
- PLC troubleshooting: Ability to connect a laptop to a PLC, read ladder logic, force I/O bits, and diagnose fault codes.
- Electrical schematics: Proficiency in reading industrial blueprints, three-phase power diagrams, and control loop drawings.
- VFD programming: Skill in configuring Variable Frequency Drives to control conveyor speed, acceleration, and deceleration.
- Industrial electricity: Mastery of handling 480V three-phase power, 120VAC control circuits, and 24VDC sensor loops safely.
- Sensor alignment: Experience installing, wiring, and calibrating photoelectric eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, and encoders.
Mechanical Skills
- Conveyor mechanics: Knowledge of tracking belts, replacing rollers, repairing modular plastic chains, and splicing belts.
- Powertrain maintenance: Ability to align motors, service gearboxes, replace sprockets, and tension drive chains.
- Pneumatic systems: Competence in troubleshooting air cylinders, solenoids, valves, and regulators that power conveyor gates or diverters.
Certifications and Software
- Rockwell/Siemens software: Familiarity with programming platforms like Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal.
- Safety credentials: Possession of OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, alongside strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
- NFPA 70E: Training in electrical safety compliance to safely work inside live industrial control panels.
Soft Skills and Logistics
- Customer service: Clear verbal communication to explain technical issues to non-technical clients.
- Time management: Ability to organize daily schedules, arrive punctually at client sites, and complete service reports using mobile field software.
- Driver’s license: A clean driving record and comfort operating a company service vehicle.
Additional Responsibilities
- Working with Engineering to deliver customer-focused solutions by leveraging MSP’s value-added services, including OEM design, technical expertise, innovation, and comprehensive equipment history.
- Generate sales opportunities through building and maintaining Strong, Trust-based Customer Relationships on-site.
- Lead internal site labor teams during service outages and/or provide technical advisement to customers or third-party crews to ensure successful completion of service work.
- Produce Detailed Service Reports upon project completion.
Requirements
- Engineering degree or technical diploma (mechanical or controls). Alternately, a demonstration of equivalent experience (e.g. basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronics, and fluids theory).
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in industrial or material handling equipment environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word).
- Available to travel to a variety of different locations in North America.
