LOCATION: Richmond, VA (Innsbrook). Time in the office is expected, as well as a presence at programs and events taking place across the Greater Richmond area.
BACKGROUND:
The Autism Society of Central Virginia (ASCV) is a local nonprofit organization with a mission to support, empower, and build connections to improve the lives of all in our local autism community. We offer a wide variety of programs, including social and recreational activities, support groups, educational workshops, advocacy initiatives, and scholarships. We serve individuals with autism, families, caregivers, educators, and professionals across Central Virginia through meaningful, community-centered programming and resources.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Creative Manager leads the visual expression of ASCV’s brand across print, digital, web, events, and other communications. This role transforms marketing plans and organizational priorities into engaging visual experiences that strengthen awareness, participation, fundraising, and community engagement.
Working closely with the Marketing Manager and staff across the organization, the Creative Manager develops creative concepts, personally designs a wide range of marketing and organizational materials, manages ASCV’s visual identity, and ensures every interaction with ASCV reflects a cohesive, high-quality brand. This is a collaborative, hands-on role requiring creativity, organization, strong project management, and exceptional attention to detail. The Creative Manager also coordinates vendors and specialized creative support as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Creative Direction & Brand Management
- Maintain and strengthen ASCV’s visual brand across communications, campaigns, events, and organizational materials.
- Ensure consistent use of logos, colors, typography, photography, imagery, and design standards.
- Develop creative concepts supporting organizational campaigns, events, fundraising initiatives, programs, advocacy, and membership.
- Partner with the Marketing Manager to translate marketing plans and messaging into cohesive visual campaigns.
- Develop templates, guidelines, and creative resources that improve efficiency and support brand consistency across the organization.
Graphic Design & Creative Production
- Design flyers, brochures, postcards, invitations, signage, presentations, advertisements, reports, digital graphics, and other print and electronic materials.
- Create graphics for social media, websites, email campaigns, digital advertising, publications, and promotional materials.
- Prepare final files for print and digital distribution.
- Coordinate with printers, promotional vendors, and outside creative partners to ensure high-quality production.
- Manage projects from initial concept through final production and delivery.
Website Design & Digital Experience
- Lead the visual design and ongoing creative development of ASCV’s website, ensuring pages are visually engaging, accessible, user-friendly, and consistent with the organization’s brand.
- Build and update website pages in collaboration with the Marketing Manager and other staff responsible for content.
- Improve website layout, navigation, accessibility, and overall user experience.
- Create digital assets supporting email campaigns, online promotions, fundraising initiatives, and other organizational priorities.
Publications & Organizational Materials
- Design and produce major organizational publications, including impact reports, program guides, fundraising materials, sponsorship packets, presentations, and campaign collateral.
- Collaborate with staff across the organization to create polished, visually engaging materials that communicate ASCV’s mission and impact.
- Ensure publications maintain a consistent visual identity and are delivered on schedule.
- Prepare materials for print, digital distribution, presentations, and other organizational uses.
Event Creative & Environmental Design
- Develop the creative identity and visual experience for ASCV’s signature events, including the 5K & Family Fun Day, RVA Duck Fest, Gala, Golf Tournament, and other community events.
- Design event materials, signage, sponsor recognition, stage visuals, presentations, programs, displays, and environmental graphics.
- Partner with the Events team and Marketing Manager to ensure event branding is cohesive across promotional materials and the onsite experience.
- Develop creative materials that enhance the attendee experience and reinforce ASCV’s brand.
- Coordinate with production vendors and event partners to support successful execution of event creative.
Creative Asset Management
- Coordinate photography, videography, illustration, and other creative production needs using internal resources and outside contractors as appropriate.
- Edit and prepare visual assets for use across print and digital communications.
- Maintain ASCV’s library of photos, graphics, templates, logos, and other creative assets.
- Ensure visual assets are organized, current, and easily accessible for future campaigns and organizational needs.
- Help establish systems for collecting, naming, storing, and sharing creative assets across the organization.
Project Management & Collaboration
- Manage multiple creative projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Coordinate creative requests from staff across the organization and establish clear project timelines.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing Manager, Communications Manager, Events Director, Program team, Development team, and leadership to deliver creative solutions that support organizational goals.
- Gather and incorporate stakeholder feedback while maintaining creative quality, brand consistency, and project timelines.
- Maintain creative workflows, shared files, templates, and project-management systems that keep work organized and moving efficiently.
- Communicate clearly with internal partners about project status, timelines, and next steps.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, Fine Arts, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience in graphic design, creative services, branding, or a related field.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating print, digital, and brand design.
- Experience designing for multiple communication channels, including print, web, email, social media, events, and presentations.
- Experience managing multiple creative projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with website design and content management systems.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and incorporating stakeholder feedback into creative work.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or comparable design software.
- Experience coordinating with printers, photographers, videographers, promotional suppliers, or other creative vendors.
- Familiarity with accessibility and usability best practices in print and digital design.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, membership, education, healthcare, or other mission-driven organization is preferred.
Work Environment & Additional Requirements:
- Availability to occasionally attend programs, signature events, and community activities during evenings and weekends to support creative production, event execution, and priority content needs.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with regular time in the Innsbrook office.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally.
- Ability to occasionally transport creative materials, event displays, or equipment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Compensation: $55,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
